Heard these guys radio advert today and the example they used in it sounds like a good deal.

My own Home insurance is up for renewal in the next few weeks and will also be interested in a quote too

Just rang to try get a quote from these guys, couldn't give me one over the phone, said they had to send out the proposal forms for me to fill out and send back then they would issue a quote. Strange way to do business when you can get 100 other quotes straight away online.

Seems strange - I got a instant quote online with no problems, Are you in a high risk of flooding area or something like that?

no nothing like that, halfway through the quote she just said "oh i cant quote you on the phone, i will have to send you out the forms and get you to fill them in and send back."
I have been getting house insurance for this house for 10 years, never had a claim or anything out of the ordinary, normal mid terraced 3 bed house.
Found it a bit strange tbh.

    Hi touchwood,

It's not unusual for a completed proposal form to be requested before quoting, particularly if your property differs from the standard in any way or the underwriting risk is deemed higher. Once we've received a completed form our underwriters will look at your individual circumstances and someone will be directly in touch. If you'd like to speak to someone about this PM me your details and I'll arrange for someone to give you a call.

    Thanks!

    Philip

i live in a 3 bed mid terraced house, no flood or subsidence risk, in 9\10 years of getting insurance have never had a problem, never a claim or refused. bit odd that we were halfway through the quote when the rep suddenly stopped and said she had to send out the forms, i'm not that bothered i just think it was strange and a bit odd when its so easy to get quotes everywhere else, makes no odds as i got plenty of other competitive quotes anyway.

Anyone here have an eircom phonewatch system installed and then after a few years not renewed the service ? How do they treat you if you want to return ? or can anyone here recommend a dial system alarm that will be of adequate spec to bring down my home insurance premium.

    Thanks in adance guys.

    Hi thekeythesecret,

Whilst we're not in a position to comment on your query about the Eircom phonewatch system, I can confirm that we offer a discount for having an alarm fitted. The value of the discount is 8% off your contents cover, which is automatically applied to your premium once you've declared that you have an alarm fitted. The conditions attached are around proper usage and maintenance of the alarm rather than the spec of the alarm itself. If you'd like more information on the conditions of this discount or if there's anything else I can help with let me know.

    Kind regards,
    Clare
