Finding it next to impossible to find a double room in a shared house/apartment in or near the city centre. I don't want to live with an owner, other than that not too picky as long as it's nice and clean. Any ideas? I feel like there must be something hiding somewhere, but the internet is being no help so far.

House shares are usually in the newspaper.

To be fair you've picked a bad time to look as well. Most return students would have been looking for places like that a few weeks ago. This could be why it's so hard to find somewhere to your liking.

Have you refined your search as such using Daft?

Do the college not have a list of houses?

have you tried the WIT forum? If don't want to live with students that's fair but there are always mature students looking to live with decent people.
