Polaroid 600 film or go down another road?

I'm just after dusting off my Polaroid 600 camera which I bought about 11 years ago and stopped using when the film was discontinued.

I know this subject has been discussed in other threads before but I wanted more recent updates on what the situation is with Polaroid 600 film.

I see that you can get expired film on ebay and The Impossible Project have (very expensive) film for 600's but whats the best option for getting the old style Polaroid-type photos with the white frame and aged look? :

    1. Try and source 600 film (and where would be the best place to do this?)
    2. Give in and buy a Fujifilm Instax camera
    3. Go the Diana F+ plus route and buy the instant back

I dont even know where to start! Insight into each option from those of you with experience would be greatly appreciated!

i have a polaroid sun 660, and i bought film off the impossible project. one word: shíte! it was terrible! i wouldn't bother with it! i love polaroids, but the film these days is awful for it. go out and buy something like an olympus om1 and some rolls of 35mm :D

or just play with instagram lol!

oh yea, i have another polaroid fun cam that my hubby bought old expired film for off ebay (it was the sort of long rectangle kind) and it too was awful! :(

scanned in one from the two types

    1. the impossible project 600 series film -- with polaroid sun 660

    2. actual old expired 500 series (i think?) polaroid film -- with polaroid joycam

Thanks for feedback. Thinking I might just have to put the Polaroid 600 into a museum!

I'm going to stick with my various other cameras and Hipstamatic at the moment and save up for either the Instax or the instant back for the Diana F to get the polaroid borders on prints.

    Cheers lads!

If you want borders on prints, just get a printer, a guillotine and use PS or any image editing software and size/crop imgages to the aspect ratio you want. If you want, the look of poor optics and poor resolution you can add those effects too. ;)

I print my own photos and not having borders is the hard bit.
