Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rabbitte was pandering the masses and using Primetime as a political soap box.
I didn't disagree, but I generally hate the rabble rousing politics.

Shouting abuse at someone having their lunch is free speech now? Tell you what, let me know where you're having lunch tomorrow, and I'll go around and start shouting at you, see what you think about free speech then

I've seen waitresses and waiters get more vicious abuse and no arrests occurred. I'm sure Pat won't press charges.

The politicians will soon need their own armour-plated Humvees to take them around, especially after the next budget.

No, he wasnt the same man, he had walked over to Pat earlier and handed him a leaflet, and walked off, the man who was shouting at him had rang the garda station and told them they had the wrong man, turns out they are now charging him with resisting arrest, cheeky cúnts:mad:

If he was wrongly arrested then surely he was entitled to resist arrest! Or do the Gardai expect to arrest innocent people without them objecting to it. They have some brass neck.

Fcukin clowns. Rabbbit and crew simply have to point the finger and the guy is dragged out no questions asked. Its a fcukin joke.

At least the person with Rabbit it appears, spoke up and said they arrested the wrong person.

Rabbit just kept his head down and kept munching!
More interested in his food than actually helping a man getting arrested for something he didn't do!

This is the Gardai we're talkin about, they can do what the hell they like and nothing he or us can do about it. Its the 'justice' system we have to put up with unfortunately:mad:

Why didn't you credit the person who filmed it, or the Times article you cut and pasted into the video description?

Looks like Buswell's, I've only been there once or twice, so I could be wrong.

Anyway, I gather this was something to do with a group supporting the serial protester who was due to have his farm repossessed? That might explain the applause throughout the bar every time your man threw out a soundbite or three.

Pat Rabbitte is an elected official whose job it is to serve the public. The public are angry and have every right to take out there frustration on him within reason (ie non violent protest).

That man have every right to exercise his right for non violent protest a protest by its very nature is meant to be uncomfortable for the party on the receiving end. If more people done what that man did something might change.

Let's get a couple of things straight here. This happened in a hotel, and a hotel can choose to eject you if they don't like your behaviour, don't see why people are banging on about free speech

    No.

If more and more people did what this man did, the politicians will simply have their lunch in the comfort of Leinster House out of sight from the general public.

Then nobody would be able to confront them.

At least let the man have his feckin dinner first.

Freedom of speech is fine when used properly but basic manners are more important.

Yeah, they'd bring back the Mercs n' cops.

How far would you take this right to non violent interaction? Should they call to his home? Phone him late at night? Accost him on a family holiday? What?

Ah sure we all paid for that lunch! If he broke the restaurant rules fair enough... no one had a problem with it yet, he was arrested without any reason being given.

If the hotel asked the gardaí to arrest him he would need to be arrested under a piece of legislation.

A hotel would ask the guards to take a man out from their premises.

Haha thanks for that OP. The video gave me a laugh. We should make life as miserable as possible for all our politicians. These pigs claim thousands of euro of our tax money in expenses, on top of their ridiculous wages. (Enda Kenny earns more than Obama? Um hello??) We are paying for their 4 course meals, their holidays to Barbados, even their double quilted luxurious toilet paper with which they wipe their pampered arses! Politicians are the scum of the earth. Be sure to shout abuse at them every time you seem them cross the street.

But he would have to have committed an offence. Possibly they asked him to leave as he was annoying other guests and he refused but that wasn't in the video so it would be interesting to see.
