Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How do you react when your alarm goes off in morning?

I always set my alarm but usually wake up just before it erupts. If it did go off I'd be up straight away to kill it. What way do you go about it?

    Rinse and repeat ad nauseam.

I get a horrible sinking feeling of disappointment and rush to turn it off and wait for the next alarm to go off ten minutes later. Unless it's the last alarm, then I grudgingly drag myself out of bed.

Mine is across the room, so i have to jump up to turn it off. Only way i can get up without 20x snooze.

I hate having to be woken up by the alarm, usually I'm awake a bit before it so I'll have 10 or 15 mins preparing myself to get up, hate when the alarm wakes me and I have to get up straight away

I've seen me purposely setting the alarm for half an hour before i need to get up, in the vain attempt to fool myself that I've a half hours sleep to enjoy before the alarm really goes off.

Please tell me i wasn't the only person whose did this before?

The alarm ushers in the crushing realisation that I haven't died in my sleep.

This time next year I'm finished and never doing this **** again though thank god.

I only work 2 days a week, the other days I have a human alarm clock in the shape of my daughter.

The days when my alarm goes off I normally just get up straight away, too much stuff to be done before work :(

If my alarm went of in the morning, I'd wonder why, as I never set the feckin thing.

I've two personal alarms one is 3 and a half and the other is 16 months - would love the option of a snooze button :p

Well first I think to myself "What kind of burglar breaks in during daylight?"

Then I react by getting out the shotgun and running downstairs..

Usually my alarm coincides with my dreams.
I dreamt the other day that it was someone trying to ring my phone (which is also my alarm), and tried to answer it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,739 ✭✭✭johnmcdnl

My body has some sort of ability to wake up 2-3 minutes before the alarm goes off so - so I generally have it turned off before it ever goes off

I've gotten so bad that I've learned to turn my phone alarm off in my sleep so I manage to get fuck all done every single day.

I love sleep and I hate getting up. It is so hard. I've multiple alarms set and I snooze them all for about an hour.

Keep pressing snooze until I leave the bare minimum time to get up, shower, and drive to work.

  • Registered Users Posts: 337 ✭✭CavanCrew

alarmm goes off, hit snooze, then open eyes and see 6.03am gotta wait until 5, open eyes again.. oh its 6.09am, I CANNOT get up on an odd number.

Always get this rotten sinking feeling getting up, DEPRESSO.

    Horrible O' Clock.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 512 ✭✭✭GaryIrv93

Most times I'm not arsed enough to turn it off and would rather let it keep on ringing than move an inch :D

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,144 ✭✭✭Scanlas The 2nd

Up until a few years ago I used to literally be up standing beside the bid within two seconds of it waking me, I'd jump up lightning fast, like a sprinter off the blocks. Seemed to bypass the dread of getting up. Now I'm just out of the habit and wait a minute or so.

I lie there and listen and think that setting Children of the Grave as my alarm was an awesome idea and then get up when the track finishes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,733 ✭✭✭✭corktina

ah well, what I do is I put the phone on "silent" and then the Alarm doesnt disturb me at all and I can sleep til Noon and then it isnt morning at all at all so that solves de whole ting.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 455 ✭✭Jonah42

I use my phone for an alarm and set my tone to a really annoying ringtone. I put it on the other side of the room meaning I HAVE to get out of bed if I want to turn it off. Easiest way for those early morning starts imo.

I can hear my flatmates alarm through two doors, waking me up an hour before i need to get up.
Thing is, it doesnt wake him up. I have to knock on his door to wake him up and tell him to turn it off.
Whats the bloody point in having an alarm if it doesnt wake you up?
