yeah not in that area, rang em earlier and they confirmed that, theres upc digital television but no broadband

You can get vodafone at home broadband in most parts of ferrybank

I would have thought you could get WiMax out that way ? Might be worth looking at instead of paying a connection fee for a landline you don't use.

Sky are launching BB and phone soon. Might wanna wait until then and get the whole lot.

Im sure they will have a very good introductory offer.

Sky will go through Phone line. UPC goes through cable.

If you can get eircom you can get sky.

nice one,any idea when sky will definitely be bringing out broadband?any ideas of cost?

Id say give them a ring and they might give you a date.

Theyre opening call centre in a couple of weeks. Id imagine they will launch shortly after. Cant see them employing 100s and not having work for them.

My advice would be dont sign any contracts with UPC until you get confirmation of a date.

I can basically guarantee they will have a very sweet offer. Theyre entering a market thats already saturated. Theyre also British which is the most competitive broadband market in the world. Sky in UK gives free BB and phone with TV (all they pay is line rental). Imagine that in Ireland.

    Or

Go for the half price TV on the very basic package if you need TV right now. Less than 20 a month i think.

Then they will put out a good offer for their 600k existing that you take up.

Thats just someone talking nonsense. There using Eircoms network like they use BTs in the UK. People you talk to in sky now never dealt with BB and were never trained in it so its the luck of the draw getting info.

If you need TV now go for the half price sky as in 12 months youll have the free dish with free stations to keep and more options at least. 12.50 a month cant be beaten by UPC.

Hard to know with the BB as even a few weeks without it feels like a few months. Im gonna say if your desperate go with Eircom for the BB if you use it a lot. Get a 12 mth contract and change when it ends.

From experience UPC dont know where their network is in ferrybank due to some address recording issues in their system.

A family member had dtv but was told they could not have broadband as their area was not cabled and was working from a local mmds distrobution box, we told them it was , drew them their cable network on a google map overlay based on memories of them working in the area , and a week later they came back and said we were right , a few days later broadband and phone from upc was installed.

    Thats crazy!

How could the engineers not realise that only a couple of people in an estate have BB and they never get called out? Work dodgers probably :D

Id say it was like speaking to a wall trying to get it sorted.
