will a usb pci card solve my woes?

my asrock 790gx motherboard is not copying onto usb devices properly and i narrowed it down to the motherboard itself and maybe a dodgy usb controller.

if i get one of these pci cards with a couple usb 3.0 ports on it, will the new port bypass the motherboard controller?

i suppose the only way to know is to try and see but these are pricy enough so was wondering if a new motherboard would be better?

Maybe your drivers need updating.

Getting a card like that should work fine. You can get them a bit cheaper from amazon.

yeah tried downloading firmware but its still at v1.0 i might have a look at one cos its less hassle than a new motherboard!

no it doesn't have usb 3.0 ports, they're just the regular v2.0 ports that are in it. why?

well i think the BIOS is the latest cos the only one on the site is v1.0 here

which i presume is the one that is on it when it leaves the factory. is there any other ways of updating the bios like if i find out what make it is i.e. american megatrends or award or something like that?

Try flashing it anyways. If it were to be corrupt this'd fix it.

tried it just there and didn't do anything:( but thanks for the suggestion it could have been useful;)

ah its too late i have it a while and its out of warranty:( ordered a usb pci card so hopefully it should sort it!
