Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The deals that can be got aren't an entitlement but a bonus for what is in fairness a great service. I think it's fair enough they wouldn't keep offering someone the 50% off.

I don't see electric, heating, phone providers etc. giving out anything like these retention offers.

Your also nothing but a big child throwing his toys out of the pram using the I pay your wages line.

Bit OTT with that comment.I have been on 1/2 price for the last 3 to 4 years. When you hear crap like we have saved you over €2000 in the last 3 years. You swear Sky were doing me a personal favor and providing the service for free.Imagine the money they were making from people before the downturn and before the big 50% or so discounts they are giving.Their prices were way overinflated but there you go some people are just gullible.Sky don't give a rats ass about you, me or anyone else.Wake up .If you can find a bottle of cop on drink that too.

Little touchy aren't we. Where do you find these bottles of cop on you talk of? Any 50% deals on them?

I suppose you'd get them in any Cop Shop....

Called Sky earlier... they asked me where did I see this 50% deal. I said boards.ie.. The guy came back after speaking to his manager and asked was it a CPW official representative posting about the offer and I said no.

He said he's never heard of the offer but could discuss a package. I asked if the half price offer would apply and he said no. I respectfully stated it was clear many were getting the offer and he replied "don't believe everything you read on the net".

Rang UPC and they offered me 50 quid a month off our existing package (200mb bb, 2 room tv with Sky Sports).. Reckon I'll stick with UPC

Sky was disconnected on the 7th Sept, had a missed call from them last Friday, they rang again this morning.

Offered half price on any package, HD for €5 for 12 months with €100 credit added to my account and no contract. This was my first time cancelling, was with sky for 11 yrs before this.

Now have everything for €45.50 p/m + €100 will cover the first 2 months. 2 weeks without the tv was worth it.

I took the CPW offer. Got a text saying my first bill would be €51. Should be €5 (€15 -10 deposit). Called them and they said it has been changed but if I am still charged the wrong amount they would give me 3 months free.

Can't wait to argue that 3 months free is not 3 months paid in advance.

I dont think there will be too many people interested in knowing if you have been cut off or not. I know I'm not as that type of post is lending nothing to the thread.

However if you're posting up about whatever offers you've been made, well thats a different story :)

    Aaaaaaannnyyyyhhhooooooo.....

Rang Sky this evening as they have twice refused to give a competitive deal with CPW and cancelled.they gave it the "you are a valuable customer for x years" which really didn't tally with the crap offers I got.

So long Sky.. hello Sky better offer!

I got a call from them five working days in a row from the day I put through the cancellation request. Since then, nothing (screen went black nearly two weeks ago).

    Same as.

Rang Sky last night to cancel it in the wife's name.
Didn't really get much of an offer. They did offer to take off the Discovery channels and stuff though!

Anyways, went ahead with the cancellation, and heading to CPW later to take them up on their offer.

Knowing our luck though, the wife will get a call in a month from Sky offering us free Sky for 9 months! ;)

Now signed up through CPW in my name! Install date next Thursday! :D

Did the same except in reverse. My wife signed up yesterday for the CPW deal and then I cancelled my Sky today. At the end of the call, the girl said that no new connections were allowed at the address in the next 12 months, even in a different name.
Any cause for concern with that statement?

A matter of opinion. There are loads of posts in the Cable, Satellite & MMDS forum giving the pros & cons of each system. Do a search in that forum & you should unearth some goodies:).

<<< sky broadband / ex sky tv customers >>>

i cancelled sky tv ages ago but i still have sky broadband.
got a call today offering me half price tv for 12months with no contract and 100euros credit. I'm going to give my 30days notice tomorrow and use the money to pay for my broadband for the next couple of months.

(Also, you can threaten to cancel your sky broadband and get a better offer. I was paying 40 a month, now reduced to 30 a month.)

Apart from the free Tablet I can't find any pricing details for Sky on the CPW website, has anyone got a link to their pricing / discounts?
    Thanks

TV is on another planet compared Horizon, UPC Broadband is on another planet compared to sky.

So, we were paying a mad €72 a month for just Variety + Sports. Went to cancel at the weekend, was on the phone for 40 minutes. My god, they are extremely annoying in trying to keep you as a customer. The usual crap of "we're sorry to see a long serving customer go" and "what are you going to without sky" and "once you cancel you wont be able to avail of any offers we offered here today". Her "offer" was a shoddy decrease to €61 a month. I said that was still far too expensive and that my partner will be signing up as a new customer in her house for the €33 a month deal. She claimed she never heard of the deal.

Anyway, got cancelled in the end. Went into CPW and got the €33 deal with no hassle at all. Sports + Variety + HD plus a new HD box for 33 quid, happy days :)

Okay I have FINALLY rang Sky!

After putting it off since February.

I'm on the €36 bundle, told him 20% off wasn't good enough so he gave €10 off which is about 27.5%, changed my arm and asked for a free OnDemand connector, mine works grand but I want the one that's powered off USB.

He said he'd have to find out about it but he'd let me know.

Not as good as some of the offers some of you have been getting but it's good enough for me!

    Delighted :)

Just off the phone with them, they had to charge my card €12.99 but they put it as a credit off the bill straight away.

Saved €10 per month and a free OnDemand connector!

    Result :)

Due to be cut off Monday. Not sure if I should ring them to see if there's a deal or possibly go with the CPW deal.

    Any ideas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,511 ✭✭✭Shred

I'm due to be cut off in about 5 days. When I put the cancellation through a few weeks ago there was an immediate offer of 35% off for 12 months on my account when I got off the phone, that has since disappeared and when I called them on Friday they said they didn't know of any such offer and could only give me 20% off and they wouldn't budge . I've been a customer with them for years and never missed a payment or had any reductions.

After years of inaction I decided to ring them to "cancel" after paying €92-€96 without all offers coming my way. I was offered a reduction to €79.50 straight away (12 month contract) but I refused. After checking with his supervisor etc there was no further reduction so I requested to proceed to cancellation.

The agent I was talking to advised he was proceeding with the cancellation but would have to transfer me to the billing dept to sort out my final bill - as soon as I was transferred I was offered €58.50 for 6 months - no contract- which I accepted.

To be honest I was prepared to cancel and move - but will stay as long as they are prepared to offer a discount

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,800 ✭✭✭Senna

I cancelled in August and had a couple of calls with offers, turned two offers down and then seen the CPW deal. Was just about to order it when sky phoned back again. Half price for 12 months, no contract and €100 free credit, so I went for that €36 for everything bar the movies.
Only took the Sports for the Ryder Cup, so will cancel sports now and I reckon I'll get to January with the free credit.

Got a text this morning to say my sky bill for this month will be €102. It should be €43 I think after adding multiroom to the sports variety and HD CPW deal. I'll have to give them a ring later to sort it.
