Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I've been trying to get xmbc/kodi running properly via various plugins. But none of them seem to work very well.

wife rang to cancel and they rang me back to discuss options
    offered the following
    variety with split sports(1&5 or 2&5) 43 a month for 10 months
    with HD 50.50

variety with full sports 50.50 a month I think for 12 months but maybe was 10
    with HD 58 a month

    No contract

I was pushing ahead with cancellation until she said that as a long term customer we get the variety pack at 32pm instead of 38pm and that will reset if cancellation is initiated.........

She is calling back Sunday !morning anyway whilst I think about it

Got the offer I wanted today, €56.50 for variety/sports/movies/hd and multiroom for 12 months, also got a free 2nd sky+hd box on the way with free installation, happy enough with that!

Rang to cancel today was offered a few options but nothing close to some of the deals reported here.
Told him i wasn't accepting anything less than 12 months half price as iv'e been a long term customer and always paid full price but was told he couldn't do that so went ahead and cancelled.
Will see if i get any further offers in the coming weeks

Were the offers better or worse than the one I outlined above ?

My bill is gone back up to €38 now the offer is after expiring.

What are the current offers going for Variety, the €38 package?

I'd say worse, i only have the variety pack with HD was paying €53,they offered €36.50 to stay on that.Alternatively was offered a downgrade to the basic family package for €19 no HD. He said there is no half price offers and certainly no'free months' available.
I'm not bothered as everything I watch can be sourced through other means. It is a good service and very user friendly but not worth anything like the money they want at present

Amazon Fire TV stick is a streaming media device sold on Amazon UK that plugs into a HDMI port on your TV

Both my samsung tvs have multiple usb ports but pressing pause rewind on the remote with a usb stick connected doesn't do anything.

You probably have to change the "source" or "input" - ie. from HDMI 2 for example to "USB" or "external device" depending on how its labelled.

I had Original and Sports for the past 9 months at 50% off. I think it came to €32.50 and I then had a multiroom box at full price (€15) so in total I was paying €47.50. But since my deal expired, my bill has risen to €80.

I rang to cancel hoping I'd get the same deal again, but the best he offered me was Original and Sports for €52 and half price Multiroom so €59.50 total. I went ahead and cancelled for now.

Was due to get cut off next Tuesday. Logged into Sky Service App recently and got a message offering 35% off, rang them and they knew nothing about it and only offered 20%. So sent a PM to Sky on here looking for the 35% off and half price HD.

Got a call back this evening offering 50% off with 12 month contract. So €44.50 for Variety, Sports and HD. Happy enough with that.

Just checked this myself and have the same 35% off offer... hmmm, maybe a PM to the Sky Reps might be worthwhile

    It's only online though!

I tried ringing in but they told me that they literally have no way to do it on their systems. I was a little disappointed but then I realized the deals you get whilst on the phone are way better than the online offers

Was on to SKY to cancel, my deal had expired and had gone up to €105.50 got variety package, sports & movies & HD & multiroom, was only paying €64 for last 9 months. Now have it for €52.75 p.m.for the next 12 months. Can't complain about that in fairness

Does any one get a free little black box off sky for free, and now it wont let me watch box sets on it at all, which is whole point of getting it off them, as an offer to stop me cancelling, so annoyed with them. Then they send me a email to say get sky go app for free but it wont let me get it on my tablet as again my package isn't up to date

You need a hd subscription to watch sky boxsets

So basically a total Con, give the box for free, yet you need to sign up for HD subscription. So annoying Sky is just all in it for the money

No. The box can also be used for on demand / catch up tv.

Sky is just all in it for the money
They are a business after all and not a charity.

You can still watch Catch up tv, but I agree you shouldn't need hd subscription to watch boxsets , it's included in the family pack in the UK, should be included here too!

Anyone know if an order is cancelled within the 14 days 'cooling off' period do they come back and remove the dish from the building?

I don't see any way they would take back a dish as they are near worthless things and wouldn't be worth an installers time to take it down.
maybe you don't get installation till after cooling off period though.

A family member has had first hand experience of this recently and the dish wasnt touched. A sky "engineer" (hello Winston ;)) did call and collected the box.

Amazed they don't remove the dish. People could see it as a free way of getting freesat

As mentioned the dishes are cheapy cheap. I assume that they will take the box alright but wasn't sure about the dish. I have an install scheduled but am genuinely unsure if I'll keep the service.

Good question, I'd also like to know how you got that price

Told them I was cancelling because of the cost, they said they could do it for €84 , I said no still too dear, came back with another price-still more than I was paying on last deal, still said no thanks, he then said he would check with supervisor and ring me back which he did with the offer. Last year they let me be cut off for about 2 weeks before they rang back so it seems to depend on who you get through to.

Just called sky in the last few minutes to see if they'd do any deal for me. I'm disconnected about 2 weeks now after coming to the end of 9 month half price contract. Was met with a flat "nothing I can do" so it's onto a combi box or another kind of box. I'll probably purchase an alternative and they'll come forward with a "deal" !!

Don't worry. They will contact you. And when they start, they will follow up every 3 months. I'm gone from them for 2 yrs and got an offer a few weeks ago. Won't be going back till I win the Lotto.

im thinking of joining sky, was looking at their vairety bundle €38 a month, just wondering in terms of payment does it have to be direct debit or can i pay 6/12 months in advance with a credit card?

not sure if this has already been mentioned, but Eircode could put an end to the whole "vary your address and sign up as a new customer" game. Sky could well ask for your eircode when signing up - this is unique per house/apartment.

unique is right. According to Eircode, we have been relocated to a neighbouring parish in Co. Clare, which itself has been relocated to Limerick. Which does mean that we now have a new address to sign up to Sky with.

    no it doesn't.
your house will not get a new eircode.

that address is not new, it was always your postal address. Your closest main post office , where your post gets sorted in Limerick ?

Back on topic again. :) My 6 months half price basic pack with sports was coming to an end next month so I rang earlier and the best the guy could do was €47 a month. I'm currently paying €32.50 for that so I declined the offer.

I have an offer of €12.99 for August / Sept. with Setanta which I can avail of before the end of the month and coupled with Freesat and Freeview I think I'm well enough covered going forward.

Going to try the cancellation tonight now, paying 38 and not a deal to be offered unless you cancel it seems.
