Windows Phone 8 As A Viable Gaming Platform?

I just read that the Unity gaming engine will be supported on the upcoming wave of WP8 devices. Does this mean that Windows phones could become portable Xbox's so to speak? What's the outlook for hardcore mobile gaming on a WP8 device?
