I'm looking around online for help with a respiratory problem and I came across Galway Chest Clinic. They say they offer rapid access and follow up for very serious conditions including lung cancer. They don't mention anywhere who the "wide range of consultants" working with them are or what hospital they're affiliated with. I presume they aren't performing CT scans onsite themselves. They're located in doughisca .
Does anyone have any experience of them ?It seems a bit strange

Ah it seems to be part of the galway clinic. I wonder why they'd make such a dodgy looking web presence for themselves. Does anyone have experience anyways?

I have no experience and no affiliation with them. I have used other private consultants at Galway Clinic and Bons Secours before. IMO the website doesn't look dodgy, it is just a web presence for a private consultant. It states that they are situated at the Galway Clinic and Bon Secours Hospitals. It also mentions Dr. Hilary McLoughlin set it up. If a CT scan was required, I'm sure they'd refer you to the facilities at either the Galway Clinic or the Bons.

Further info (press release from web site designer)

Of course, you could always ask your GP to refer you to a consultant.

It is only a consultant who bought an expensive 'room' in the Galway Clinic and rebranded it.

They may be good consultants or they may not be, they might even have day jobs in UCHG where you can access them for free. :)

The scanning setup in the Galway clinic is crap and hideously expensive...and is not covered by a lot of insurers. The consultant will normally take cash off you and tell you to get a scan straight away.

You are better off ringing them and asking if they require a scan and come in with the scan on disk. Bons and Merlin Park will often do a scan under your insurance and give it to you on disk. Check your insurance first.

Thanks you for your query on the Galway Chest Clinic. The practice was founded Dr. Hilary Mc Loughlin (MB BCh BAO FRCP(UK) MA) in 2010.

Dr. McLoughlin is a graduate of UCG and the University of Leeds. Dr. McLoughlin did her specialist training in the Dublin Teaching Hospitals, St James' University Hospital in Leeds, and co-ordinated the pulmonary rehabilitation services in West Yorkshire.

We provide specialist care for patients with respiratory medical conditions. We are based at the Galway Clinic and have access to a wide range of consultants at the Galway Clinic and Bon Secours hospitals.

If you require an appointment, we are happy to receive a referral from your GP to Suite 34, The Galway Clinic, Doughiska or at <no mails> or you can contact us on 091 <no numbers>.

Ok, we'll end with that post.

Galway Chest Clinic, if you plan to continue posting in an official capacity, like the post above, then you need to be verified by the back office.
