i could be posting in the wrong place apologies if i am...i just started work in an office where everything is recorded manually on paper an absolute nightmare when i have to retrace an invoice from months ago.

Im looking for a basic accounting package to record the invoices and receipts preferably with mobile/web access so i can update from home also if any one has any ideas. I tried express accounting from nchs but its only a trial version

    thanks

Quicken or Quickbooks. Neither is free but they are exceptionally good.

Turbo Cash Accounting, free and open sauce software

If you are on linux you could look at GNUCash, but it's a bit clunky but workable (last time I looked anyway)

TurboCASH on win is okay, but if you try to modify the forms you'll need to know a bit of Afrikaans!(I.e. the program is written in S.A. and the database fields are nearly incomprehensible, only a problem if you need to create an invoice etc significantly different to the built in ones._

If you are looking for something a bit more scalable, with a web interface you could look at sql ledger, Ledger SMB, Compiere (spl?) or OpenERP (but only if you can handle setting up a web server!) All free unless you want support.

Don't expect any of these to solve your problems without a bit of work :p. If it's a decent sized commmpany with more than a few invoices a week you'd be better off paying for SAGE or something tailored to the irish market as it would handle your tax too!

You also need to take into account [he he] the package your accountant is using for your end of year process. If he can't import the info from your package, it will be a HUGE headache.
