    Howdy,

We will be visiting from Texas during the GAA Finals game on 9/9, and will be staying at the Morgan Hotel.

What are the places to be the night or two after the game? In particular anything that is withing walking distance of our accomodations?

    Thanks for the info!

    Michael T.

Well you're right in the heart of Temple Bar there, and pretty much all the pubs there wil be packed.

But most of the GAA heads will be in the pubs near Croke Park - the likes of Quinns and Big Tree are particularly popular!

    I'm not sure if it's open, but there is a very good museum at Croke Park;

I'd highly reccommend a visit, before or after the final to give you a taste of what match days are like and to understand the history etc.

You'll be in a great central location.
Your hotel is in the Temple Bar area of Dublin.

Redeveloped as a cultural and social area more than 20 years not much of the cultural side remains.

There are still some small galleries there, a theatre or two and a cinema.
The area is pub and restaurant heavy but that's not a bad thing.

Not far from your hotel is Dublin Castle. You can do a tour or just have a walk around the yards or courtyards of the castle. You should expect more of a palace than a castle as it doesn't look too much like a castle.

If you go on a tour they take you in to the base of one of the towers of the castle which does indeed look like a castle of yore.

Also you have Christ Church and St. Patrick's Cathedrals in the area as well.

If you want you can visit the museum of Croke Park, even on match days http://www.crokepark.ie/gaa-museum/visit

You can also check out the grand squares and parks of Georgian Dublin namely St. Stephens Green and Merrion Square.

These are the areas of Dublin with fine red bricked houses of substantial proportions.

If you are looking for a GAA bar in temple bar then you should go to 'The Palace'.

Its technically on Fleet street, but that is basically the start of Temple bar.

This is where a lot of GAA supporters head after matches.
