What way do you lot go about this, I've been on to Ronnie and he say's something like this -

    http://www.canadianjoysticks.com/akishop-ps360-controller-board/

(will this involve a lot of rewiring?)

I'm in the process of (maybe 90% sure) getting a cab off Ronnie, but want to do this right, the only Jamma PCB I have is an old Spiderman game that after spending all that money on a cab I dont want to be stuck playing this for the next few months. :pac:

So I need to be able to hook the 360 up for some shmup and street fight axion..

    Cheers

I know a guy called villetim on shmups who makes console to jamma adapters :

Would you not get or make some hacked 360 pads and the 360 VGA adapter?
That's what I've done and I think a few others here. Works very well indeed.

I could but I'm still not sure what I need to buy so I can have it ready when the cab arrives. Cheers for the info, so much on the web its confusing.

    Needed:
1 or 2 hacked Xbox 360 controllers (make them or buy them from HarumaN over on Arcade Otaku)
1 VGA adapter for the 360 (pretty easy to come by)
An Audio/VGA switch to make things easy and some connectors/adapters to change the audio plugs to the needed type (a few of us have done this so can tell you what you need)

Then you'll need some amp up connectors and wires and stuff to make it nice and easy to switch from the standard JAMMA button setup to the 360.

It sounds like a lot but the hacked pads are the hardest part and if you can get them made by HarumaN then you're sorted as he does great work on them.

Do you know if the cab monitor is tri-sync (supports 15/24/31kHz)? If you want to connect the 360 directly using VGA then I think it has to be tri-sync i.e. the monitor will run at 31kHz (hi res).

My set up is similar to Steve's in that I have a 360 + pad hacks + VGA audio/video switcher to switch between 360 and Mame pc. Not sure you'd need a switcher if it's really only the 360 you'll be using. I wanted my 360 to run in low res mode (15kHz) so I added a few extra gubbins between the 360 and VGA switcher but you probably don't need to worry about. (RGB SCART out + Sync Strike + Extron RGB 580xi)

As mentioned, there are a few of us here that should be able to help with any questions. :)

Yeah its a tri-sync monitor think its auto switch too. So whats a VGA/Audio switcher?

    Any links would be great.

Cheers, and i might also throw in a mame PC too until I can save some money.

Are they not wired for JVS instead of jamma. Could be wrong on that.

According to that wiki it's JVS alright. Unless he's done a Jamma conversion on it.

"Here the pics of the Sega New Net City in stock now

Screen is very good, no burn in and good geometry !
Overall condition also good, check attached pictures
All keys are included and a manual (Japanese)
    Wiring is JVS
    2 Buttonlooms are Jamma"

    ??? I'm confused.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,920 ✭✭✭TechnoFreek

Not sure what he means by 2 button looms are jamma. Worth dropping him a mail back to explicitly telling him that you are looking for jamma wiring.

Some of the others guys here might be able to shed light on the matter, I'm just starting out as well!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,076 ✭✭✭safetyboy

Will do that, better getting this thing right first go :)

Its such a lot of money to spend without getting it right too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,206 ✭✭✭unky chop chop

Yeah if it's JVS then you'll have to get a JVS to jamma converter board and bits and bobs.

Remember looking up on them a while ago when there was a Naomi on Adverts and the I/O boards cost a good few extra quid,I'm sure there is other ways round it now but don't really know.
Confirm with Ronnie, for the money he charges you don't really want that extra hassle.
If it's JVS then maybe safer and less hassle free to go for Jamma cab for more of an out of the box solution
    Good luck

    From Ronnie

    "Hi

For Jamma games on a New Net City you need a JVS-Jamma converter
You can order one at Arace Otaku for 130 euro I believe

The Blast is already Jamma and JVS ready

Egret 's are rare and hard to find"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,920 ✭✭✭TechnoFreek

Hmmm. Ronnie was being a bit oblique with the truth suggesting a new net city cab to you while at the same time you were asking about an Xbox to jamma adaptor.

He's giving you the price of the needed part, & telling you it's 'Jamma Ready'. Why so vague?

@EnterNow The original New net was sold but he offered me a Blast City after that.

But he said he would have another New net early next week.

That AO link looks really bad imho. Way to much stuff installed internally and it looks awful with all the blue leds.
Don't get me wrong, I like my blue leds and mods, but inside my pc gaming rig and not installed in a beautiful candy cab (a candy cab is a piece of art which should be restored and loved, not visually raped , again I stress IMHO).

    So in summary:

Here's a couple of pics for those who didn't check out the link:

Totally, but just amazed at the stuff you can get running in one. I just wanted to sit down and play some shmups on a candy. Looks not to be that easy.

It's very easy, it just all cost money which is the problem :)

All you need to do is get a nice base cab, make sure the monitor is good (especially from Ronnie as he hasn't a clue about what is and isnt good geometry no matter what anyone says about him) and you can upgrade and replace all the internals over time.

Get yourself a nice MVS 1 slot or something like that on the cheap with a multicart and you will be ready with a few decent games by the time the candy arrives. Would be terrible to have it arrive and have nothing to put in it for weeks/months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,076 ✭✭✭safetyboy

Cheers Steve, Looking at 161 MVS cart at the moment, it's 80€ Whats the going rate for an MVS slot 1?

Coincidentally, I dropped Ronnie a mail about cabs a few weeks. He was quick to offer up those New Net Cities to me as well. I'd say he got a container of them and probably wants to off load them before getting more.

    Just a hunch

You reckon he would do a deal on shipping on 2 candys? If you are ordering let me know. :)

They also have an Egret 2 in stock in case you missed it.

Ronnie will do 1 xbox bad hack for €95 on the net city too, plus €95 to jamma convert is looking like my only option. Shipping is €195.

Unless Jeff actually lists machines up somewhere (he put up 4-6 on AO a couple of weeks back) then good luck to you buying one from him. It's impossible.

Emails will get you absolutely nowhere. I tried for months. I stopped short of ringing the chap, you could always try that.

Last time I read up on it his prices exclude the price of the controllers themselves. They're fairly cheap for him to buy over in the States rather than you shipping them over.

    AO link

    ArcadeControls link

Can't remember where I located a tutorial from unless one is linked in either of the above. There's a few youtube vids on it also.
