Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Would anyone know how to go about being considered for an ESL position in a VEC/secondary school please?

    Hey,
I would imagine a CELT would be helpful although i'm not sure if it is necessary. Many Language schools offer the course and I think it runs for about a month full time. If you are already working within a VEC school I would call the VEC as I think some offer a similar course free of charge to their teachers.

    Hi,

Thanks - I meant, how does one get into the VEC to teach as oppose to the qualification you need..

Apply when they advertise a post, or apply to be on their panel from which they select for various hours that come up over the year.

The CDVEC for example, have a link on their site: here

Each vec has a website with their vacancies. Others use: www.vecvacancies.ie and www.vecjobs.ie. Keep an eye on the Irish independant too.

In my school the EFL teacher is a permanent member of the teaching staff who expressed an interest in this area. You may need to be teaching general subjects and then inform the principal that you are keen to be involved in this area. Good Luck!
