Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Non tinfoil hat wearing take on the idea of a NWO

It's common knowledge that corporations often influence governments for their own agendas. They may employ lobbyists to push policies that assist their business. They may offer funding to candidates who support their agendas. In some cases they even just bribe officials.

One rather plausible concept of a NWO is that rather than acting independently, or joining together to push specific issues, corporations might organise themselves and combine their power to exert greater influenceover affairs in general. The Trilateral Commission might be considered such an organisation. It is made up of distinguished corporate figures from the USA, Europe and Japan. It plainly states its purpose as being political in nature [primarily improving cooperation between governments and regions].

The clout of that organisation must be very considerable. It is noteworthy that Mario Monti is the European chairperson of it. Monti was appointed the unelected prime minister of Italy a week after being made senator for life there. He has appointed a technocratic cabinet composed entirely of unelected professionals. He has also openly spoken against democracy.
If governments allow themselves to be entirely bound to the decisions of their parliament, without protecting their own freedom to act, a break up of Europe would be a more probable outcome than deeper integration.

I'm not commenting one way or another on the motives or morality of this. In fact, thinking about those things distract from clear analysis of the idea. Considering those aspects seem to lead to hysterical comments and talk of shapeshifting aliens or whatever. I'd like this discussion to avoid that, and stay out of the CT forum too. Incidentally, I haven't presented any eveidence here that such an entity is actually malign.

There is certainly evidence here though that a technocratic/plutocratic organisation has very great influence over the affairs of nations and international affairs.
