Advice on homing a 5 month old pup

We've taken temporary charge of a 5 month old pup (lovely little fella - a Husky?/Pomeranian? cross) - how would we go about finding someone to take him? Should we contact Dogs Trust? I don't want to contact the pound because because they'll just put him down.
