Best way to store them is in a cool place....A fridge would do.

Out of a fridge? In warm weather like it is now..2 days...Max...And and that you'll see a lot of castors in there after 1 day.

If you store the maggots in a bucket rather than a baitbox, they should last up to ten days in the fridge, two weeks in the winter time.

Casters are a fantastic bait especially for roach but you will catch all coarse fish with them. They are great for picking out bigger fish. Best way to use them is to add them to groundbait with some chopped worm.

Don't let the casters get too dark as they will float and won't be any good for feeding. Get your casters in a plastic bag and remove all the air out of it before sealing the bag and keep them in the fridge.

When you're on the bank, keep them in a baitbox and cover them with water for the day. This stops them from floating.

Casters will definetly pick out the bigger fish if their present and also their handy as you can freeze them and they'll keep fine :) Just wondering what people think is the best way to kill maggots in a hurry as such, freezing them?? I read somewhere about covering them in freezing water and then boiling water?

    I've just used boiling water.
