I have a Dell laptop and the battery charger cable is cracked and the wires exposed, it no longer works, i want to ring Dell to see if it is covered by warranty.

A label is after falling off the bottom of my laptop with its unique code/ ID for my laptop sort of like the VIN/reg plate on a car.

I need this when i ring Dell, can i type anything into my computer, into search box, to find this number.

Should be in the BIOS, boot the laptop and press F2 at the POST screen (DELL logo) and look in system information.

If you don't fancy going into the BIOS, go to support.dell.com you can select to "automatically detect service tag" which will then display it for you
