Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

With this pace in the game, there'll be mistakes and goals in the second half.

Podolski's defensive work is a real asset.

Why does Rodgers insist on playing Borini out on the wing?

Play him through the middle ffs

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

Diaby and Sterling have been the standout players so far for either side. Very impressive.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,425 ✭✭✭telekon

Sahin doesn't look particularly arsed today. Probably just a case of not being match fit yet.

    (I hope)

Liverpool have played all the football, but look slow on the counter.

Like the look of Sahin so far. Looks like a decent player.

Gerrard on the otherhand looks jaded. Suarez is having a nightmare, but still really dangerous.

    Sterling looks class as well.
Liverpool have played all the football, aye right and Sahin's done nothing

That Sterling lad looks good though Diaby has been something else.

Good half for Arsenal, running at the Liverpool defence at ease.
Expect Liverpool to come out flying for the 2nd half.

Good first half. Diary bossing, Good finish from Poldi, shaky at the back though. Sterling and Allen only players performing for Pool so far.

So good to see Diaby playing like that again - wondered if that was ever going to happen :)

Gerrard is absolute poison in a team who rely on possession.

Gerrard shocking too. He really needs to switch Suarez and Borrini. It's blatantly obvious.

Joke that he's playing out wide. It's also nullifying one of our biggest attacking threats in Johnson because the play and link up down that side is non existent.

We were definitely the better team until the goal

Very happy so far, we havent really been troubled that much. Should really be 2 up with the Giroud chance. We look quick on the counter again, been a while since we've seen that. Diaby has been superb, give him his due. Jenks has done better than I thought he would against Sterling.

    Good game so far.

Sahin is a good player but has shown none of that ability so far. I wonder is he actually fit? Was very slow to track the runner for the goal.

Diaby is having a very good game, Arsenal defending well and having alot of joy in midfield. Shelvey would offer more than Gerrard going on that first half performance.

I knew our faith in Diaby would pay off.
He's bossing it and Arteta is doing an equally good job.
We look solid, comfortable on the ball and the confidence is starting to appear.

    +10

Can't understand it. Boroni is a square peg in a round hole out there.

Some team we are the players look like they haven't been introduced to one another

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

Gerrard and Suarez were utterly appalling. It looks like they're wearing shoes that are 5 sizes too big.

Our lefties are having a better time of it - Allen and Enrique have been pretty good and Sterling on the left has really caused some problems.

If Liverpool are to score it looks like it's going to have to be from another ****ty pass by Arsenals back 4. We sure as **** don't look like we can create much ourselves.

    Diaby has been absolutely brilliant.
    Giroud looks ****e.

I don't know about that at all. It was much of a muchness - neither side had managed a meaningful opportunity.

Diaby loves playing against Liverpool. Class player if he wasn't so injury prone. Maybe he will have an injury-free season like RVP's last.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,524 ✭✭✭joe123

    Positives
Sterling looks like a little gem of a player.
Allen looking cool and composed. Nice range of passing.

    Negatives
Borini having another poor game. Really doesnt look like a winger/inside forward.
Suarez awful game. Worst ive ever seen.
Gerrard shocking. Sloppy touches, passes going out of play.

And the scoreline. We push up so high Arsenal look like they can counter straight away and its usually Allen and our two CB's that are the only ones back. We will concede more here I fear.

We have literally nothing to come off the bench and change this game.

Gerrard is stinking the place up. He should be taken off.

The problem with Suarez on the right I'd have zero faith in him doing any of the defensive work that Borini does. I'd be happy to see him on the right against lesser teams but not against the better teams who'll look to push their full back forward to attack.

We were playing the better football anyway, Arsenal didnt look all that dangerous. Since the goal they look like scoring everytime they go forward.

Despite the lack of clear cut chances, I still thought we were comfortably better before the goal.

Sahin has been surprisingly anonymous in that half tbf.

Diaby is the closest that Arsenal have come to a Patrick Vieira in midfield for years.

And when I say that, I mean he is gangly and black. Only messin, he's a superb player.

Lessor of two evils. The way things are now completely choke our offensive capability.

We'll do better in the second half. Suarez and Gerrard will turn in a much better 45 minutes, those types of personalities.

Suarez god awful and Gerrard not far behind. However the biggest worry is how pathetic we look defending on the break.

Last time Diaby played like this he owned Old Trafford before scoring an o.g. in the second half. Hopefully he can repeat the trick!

Not to state the obvious but they couldnt get any worse really.

If Gerrard plays the same then Shelvey has to come on before the hour mark

None of our midfielders are defensive minded. Its occasions like this that we will miss Lucas(and Jay)
