Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All,
    Our first years have started with iPads this year and am wondering if any of you use them and could recommend some good apps for teaching junior cert maths, science and leaving cert physics? Or general education ones might same me some time trawling the Internet here! Thanks in advance

    Hi,

    If you have the time, apple have sort of done an answer to your question here:
    http://www.apple.com/education/apps/

    You probably know already that most of these are designed with the US education system in mind. If you go into, say, math you can go to algebra/calculus for example which is appropriate for JC students doing maths.

    These are the apps recommended to me.....

    For teacher to use;
    Evernote
    Dropbox
    Explain everything (you can record and annotate things and it will be played back for others to watch- might be useful for maths instead of repeating writing up the same equations again and again record and play the back)
    Pages
    Keynote
    Teacher kit

    Students to use;
    Realcalc (scientific calculator and converter)
    Numbers ( bar charts and graphs)
    Mocks.ie have an app too where you can view past papers and sample answers so it would be handy too!

    That's all I can think of maths/science related the minute hope it helps! If you look at edudemic.com they give lists for apps in education so you could try there for more ideas!
