Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Calm down, he can't sign for an English club until January at the earliest.

Thank f*ck, thought we had dodged a bullet with Sturridge, only to get hit by a car.

The things you post are laughable sometimes. One of the biggest personalities last years cl winning side isnt good enough for liverpool now.

Lol,exactly the type of player you lot could do with it and for free.

In all honesty he'd be an excellent signing for any side in the Premier League on a one year deal.

Just seen Xavi's post though which is a shame, I'd have liked to see him come back.

was about to post this. Contracts arent worth the paper they are printed on here in China half the time

Whats the actual ruling on if a player can sign, be registered on a free transfer now? Also any leagues with the transfer window still open?

If there was even a termination at all if local Chinese press are to be believed

France is open until Tuesday I believe which would be rather convenient

Generally they are not, but nothing here is ever simple but I think he's gone. Not too much more will get reported on it here though as its already 0.25am but is the Russian league still able to do transfers? always remember them having a late window. Maybe he could get more oil money in a short stint

edit: ahh a return to France might make the most sense

This wad rumoured over the last few days. Apparently some problem with ownership/shares and who was stumping up the money. The big guy was writing the cheques but didnt have a major say. Anelka could be free as well. Liverpool need to move for him although I think he said he wouldnt go elsewhere in England plus no CL football with Lpool. America is likely if the window allows.

Anzhi, CSKA and Zenit. Or Marseille.

Marseille is his club, and I believe he wouldn't join another French club as a result.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,424 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

lol at anybody who thinks Drogba is not good enough for their club without CL football.

What if PSG offer him a stupid amount of money per week?

As I eluded to, his love of Marseille is well known (he's been at the Stade Velodrome even during his Chelsea days a fair bit). As well as that, Marseille and PSG don't have the best of relationships to say the least and would he be happy with more than likely being a bench player when he is well capable of being a starter for most clubs?

I think he'll end up at one of the Russian clubs personally. Their transfer window is opened for a couple of weeks(?) more I think. I know I read that on Twitter from a Russian journo yesterday or the day before that.

Oh, and I'd have him at Liverpool or Dortmund in a heartbeat if it were possible.

Because he was registered to a club and wasn't a free agent when the transfer deadline past.

34 and can still do a better job at putting the ball in the net than anybody at Liverpool.
The rest of your post could describe Suarez.

As Xavi pointed out in the Deadline Day thread his contract was terminated after the close of the transfer window which apparently means he couldnt sign for a Prem team till atleast August but France or Russia as pointed out seem an option.

    Can Juve sign him?

Deadline only ended 15 hours ago with the news surfacing now. It's not a huge leap to guess he could be eligible to join an English club...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭Tigerandahalf

Xavi I think he might be able to join as his wages are no longer being paid and thus he would be entitled to be employed by a club. Only problem would be if he had walked out on his club which it appears he hasnt. Drogba was on crazy money, something like 250,000 a week. Madness. What club can afford that? Even the yanks would baulk. Maybe that rich Russian club Anzhi? Looks like he will have to take a paycut though.

It would be against the rules, but that's never stopped them before...

I'd love if Drogba signed for Liverpool tbh.

    Unreal player.

my chinese still sucks but from my reading of this Drogba may not even be officially gone yet. It seems (reports could be bullplop) the ownership issue will mean Drogba will not be payed and he will then leave but especially in China things like ownership issues dont tend to get solved quick and most likely Drogba had not gotten any kind of release from his club commitment (not that the contract is really worth squat, if things go sideways) before the deadline passed.

Marseille or Anzhi for me atm

Drogba central with Suarez and Borini either side sounds pretty Pfroarrr to me, That trio would put the shíts up many a team.

    Maybe not ..
@SportsPRCompany: All the rumours of Didier @FondationDrogba being released by Shanghai are nonsense. He is on international duty this week.

Whilst Drogba would do a good job for Liverpool I wouldn't want him at my club. His behaviour on the field in terms of diving is terrible. I've disliked him for 8 years and that won't stop now. horrible person

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,117 ✭✭✭✭Leiva

Yea I wouldn't like him at Liverpool .

I would fùcking love him at Liverpool

A short term deal would suit both parties but it ain't gonna happen .

He seemed to have stopped that side of his game in the last few years, didn't the Chelsea fans boo him one day for it.

but it seems he will return to a club who will no longer be able/willing to to pay him & Anelka and his contract will most likely be terminated. It might nnot be that quick though. When does the french window close? Assuming the Russian one is open the longest

Remember the Champions League semi final against Barca? He spent more time on his arse then on his feet

His diving against Barcelona was the worst individual diving in a game I can remember.

The image is exacerbated by the fact that he is built like a tank, with the pain threshold of a toddler.

Ya he was brutal that day but I do think that was a one off and trying to play barca at their own game. I'm not saying he was perfect but he definetly coped on a bit.

I don't think so, maybe it decreased or something but he was still at a lot.

I just wouldn't want to ever have To cheer him. I know this sounds slightly naive given that so many dive and cheat these days but he is the worst culprit and I'd rather not have to want to see him do well.

As if people are going to feel sympathy for Barcelona being the victims of diving, when some of their players are responsible for some of the most high-profile diving in recent years. He beat them at their own game in that sense.

If he was available he would be a quality buy for most premiership clubs.
Would be an excellent buy for Liverpool considering they have so little up front.

The crap posted in here is unreal  There is nobody will deny drogba went down easy but on his day he was simply unplayable.I support liverpool and i'm embarrassed by all the liverpool supports in here.I don't know what the man was eating in china but my god if he has gone from dragging chelsea to the champions league to not being good enough for liverpool in that space of time

ADE i'm sorry i just read this crap and got upset without reading the rest of the posts :o Drogba is without a doubt one of the greatest players to ever play in the premier league and like him or not i hate when people take away from the player.I hated ronaldo at utd simply because he was so good but would never belittle such talent.
