If you've a spare €260 then go for it now. It's a pretty cool thing.
Or wait until this time next year for the consumer version. It might be sooner but realistically the consumer version is a way off I think.

How playable are the games that currently support it? Iv haven't followed things that much but I keep hearing about the low resolution or something how does that effect most of the support games?

Rumour has it that the next SDK will be out early next year. OTher rumours put it at feature complete. Other rumours put the retail version a few months behind that.

    Rumours rumours rumours.

Is te next SDK going to be any higher res? Or the same as it is currently?

Higher, at least 1080p. No one is saying for sure but since the one at GamesCom was apparently 1080p I think it's a safe assumption.

New Vireio Perception driver out on the 28th, Skyrim looks much more playable now (anyone with a Rift should be able to see the video correctly)

I am extremely tempted to get it again after seeing that video, seems almost too good to be true! The lack of support is what has really put me off.

It's done... worked out to just over €305

I'm confused... the rift is supposed to display low res isn't it?

The vid above shows the game in a decent res really, is that what you ACTUALLY see from inside the rift?

You configure your video out to be both to the Rift & the monitor at the same time. The capture vids are all taken from the pc/monitor end of things, so they're higher resolution than what you actually see in the Rift itself

Don't know how it worked out so expensive for you.
I didn't have to pay any tax/vat on either on my rifts?!

How comfortable/heavy is the headset while wearing it?

I didn't get tax on mine either, it was the same price as steve's. I do notice your shipping is $12 cheaper than ours.

It's deceptively light, looking at it you would think it weighs a lot but for me it's quite light and easy to wear. It comes in at around 380g, I think.

For wearing it, it could be different for a lot of people and their face shape. There's that initial few minutes of getting the straps just right for your head. I've worn it for extended periods of time and have had no discomfort at all.

Anyone done any properly long gaming sessions with this? I'm talking like 5 or 6 hours on the trot. How would you compare the side effects to a normal gaming session of that length?

    This looks amazing!

That Cyberith Virtualizer seems to have popped up out of nowhere!

It looks much more impressive than the Virtuix Omni,
in that you can crouch / sit, and you're not confined as much.

You also don't need special shoes unlike the Omni.

It looks like that GTA video is the first thing to give them decent exposure,
they really need to up their game on the promo side, and get a kickstarter going.

Even though this looks a better device, they still need to get the word out there.

Edit: According to their FAQ they will be starting a crowd funding campaign in December! :)

After much pain I got the Vireio Perception 2.0 driver working for Skyrim (I just reinstalled it to vanilla state sine a rogue mod was crashing it out).

It's glorious, like wearing the Oculus for the first time again. It's moreso to wander around and look at stuff than actually play as the menu is is still a slight bit off, but the HUD for the most part is fine.

Steve SI you might be interested in this.

This guy has combined the Oculus Rift with FPV flying,

    Interesting.

I've actually got the dual gopro mount (its a bit bulky as it's for the older gopro's) and 2 GoPro Hero 3's but not got around to testing it myself on the quadcopter. Might be suited to the new Phantom 2 (not the vision crap, the real 2) as it will have more lifting power and run time.

I've a load of upgrades in my DJI Phantom(internal and external) and cant wait to port them over to the Phantom 2 as currently they are reducing my flight time dramatically. GPS tracker(long range recovery), rfid tracker(short range recovery), flytrex(flight recorder/blackbox), gopro hero 3 in waterproof mount as well as custom landing skids and mounts. Basically its too heavy now.

For those wondering what the hell I'm on about please see below.
