Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Conflustering Days?

I never got the chance to meet my old man and only ever heard bad things about him also. Was really depending on my mam to tell me the truth but she would just hang her head and say weird stuff.

Sometimes she would keep implying that he was in a band with Mick Jagger and that he was living his life vicariously through Paul Young songs, taking his lyrics far too literally rather than figuratively, as I'm sure Paul meant them to be taken.

Anyway, when he died (his anniversary is today by the way, hence this thread) he left us alone. As he was all we really had, me being an only child and all. He was totally broke at the time too and they say he never worked a day in his life but the talk going round town was that the true reason he was broke was that he had three children outside the marriage and that he had committed bigamy.

A hypocrite also, as it's said he used to preach the word of the lord on the streets for spare cash, telling people they needed to save their souls, yet there he was out drinking all the time, chasing women and as I say, whenever I asked my mam to tell me the truth about him, she would just hang her head, yet go on about him being in Jagger's band and taking Paul Young's songs far too seriously for his own damn good and ours too ultimately it seems.

So, will I ever find out wtf she was on about :(

Do you ever have days like these, where certain dates on the calendar have you asking those long forgotten unanswered questions?

    Papa was a rolling stone,
Where ever he laid his hat was his home
and when he died, all he left us was alone
    Easy.
