Just wondering have many of you got Foxtel installed in your house and would you reccommend getting it just for the sports channels?

Also would the foxtel iQ box be better for recording football and watching it at a reasonable time and not having to gey up at stupid o'clock.

The get started pack is $45 per month and the sports pack is a extra $16 per month.

So any info on foxtel and does anyone have the iQ box and is it any good.

    Cheers

We got it in 4 months ago (with Setanta sports for the Euros and the GAA as well).

Definitely worth it, shows all the games, and there's a highlights show on Monday nights. Beats having to shell out to go the pub to watch the match too!

    Yes most definitely.

Also, last week they brought out a new app which allows Foxtel subscribers to watch any game live on their phone as well. So if you're out somewhere, just fire up the app and stick on the game.

Brilliant service for fifty bucks a month (which is what I pay for the sports package).

    Thanks Xavi...

    Didn't know that!

Oh and to answer the Topic... HELL YES! We can watch every game over here unlike back home. So many people crying 3 weeks back when the league started on the Saturday but they could not watch it live .. one of the only positive things being a EPL supporter over here.

Sounds great, the house were renting has a dish up and the aux socket on the wall for it already..

@xavi6. How come you only pay 50 a month for the sports, was it a older offer? and does watching it on your mobile eat your data?

@bof666. How much extra is Setanta? will there be much on it now that the GAA is finishing up?

Yep got a "Get started" package which just has the very basic channels and sports. I download all my tv shows so have no use for anything but sports.

The app only went live for the first time at the weekend. I watched the first half of West Ham/Fulham but have no idea what it used up. The quality was great though.

Setanta has three package options - http://www.setanta.com/au/How-To-Subscribe/Foxtel/

There is alo the EPL on demand service.
$79 for the season and they show around 5 games per week.
Bear in mind the games they show are a little random but a good service and quite cheap as well if you consider what you get for the season.

It's only about $20 a month, I wouldn't say there's much on now after September though, Fox sports seems to have all the football covered.

Setanta was the most difficult thing I've had to unsubscribe from ever. Will never get it again. Quality was rubbish aswell.

The bloke that set ours up in his name left Australia a few weeks ago. I reckon once they can't get any money out of his account they'll unsubscribe us fairly quickly...

I subscribe to Setanta for rugby mainly, get Pro12, HC, English and French leagues.

I would always ring Foxtel and ask what deals are available. I got first 2 months of all packages + free install and HQ box for $90 with no contract. Then rang them at end of that and said I wanted to cancel as can get discount through Telstra bundle, they knocked 30% of my basic and sports for following 6 months then. None of that is listed on their website but sales people have leeway to improve offers to make sales/retain customers.

there is nothing else worth watching on foxtel except the sports, Aus tv is truly brutal.

 Except none of them are on Foxtel. If anything you should be getting Foxtel so you have alternatives to those shows on free to air.

My girlfriend, had only the FTA channels before she moved in with me. Painful is not the word. Excessive amount of ads, 2 hour movie 3 hours long and apart from Masterchef and My Kitchen Rules it is all utter tripe! (They will be probably classed as tripe by everyone also!)

I only have FTA, I rarely watch TV now, I usually download programs and watch them rather than painful ads on TV

They even have ads when people score in rugby

    Yeah it's a bit of a pain.

At least with the Foxtel box you can start recording a match and start watching it 20 minutes later, then just skip by the ads!

Every single Premier League game is shown on Foxtel so all of them.
and is there any Champ League games live on it?

ESPN shows Champions League and Europa League. You get ESPN 1 and 2 with Foxtel.

They show all the Utd premier league games. Not too sure about the champions league.. think ESPN have some of them

If I didn't work nights I'd get it installed. Although the footie does give me a good excuse to hit up the casino at 2am on a sunday night after work
