irish exemption???? help!!!!

    i came to ireland when i was 11 ( i was 11 in march and came here in july) so my teachers have always told me that i have an irish exemption, so i have not been doing irish at all, but today i had a meeting with my career guidance teacher and he told me that the cut off age for the irish exemption is 12!!!!!!! ( he said that he is not sure and has to check it again) i've always thought that it was 11 and that i qualified.. but now he's telling me this?!
    if i dont qualify for an irish exemption i will not be able to go to the colleges that i want to go and that is making me really worried...
    so is the cut off age really 12?
