Fishing in Galway

Hey folks,

Myself and the brothers are looking to treat the ould fella to a trip across to the west. I hope I don't get blasted here, I've done some research on the fishing but now I'm just looking for any opinions if anyone has any recommendations.

We're thinking of renting a boat and heading out, if there's a place that supplies the boat and fishing gear but so far I've only come across guys that take you out fishing (which isn't bad either). Any recommendations?

Or does anyone know of any deals where by staying in a hotel/b&b gives cheaper or includes a fishing trip?

Lake or sea fishing are both fine, not too picky

Just to add another question or two if that's ok?
I've a friend's son coming to stay soon and he wants to fish:

Is it true that

You *don't* need a license to sea fish or canal fish here?
You *do* need a license to fish certain parts of The Corrib?
You *do* need a license to catch any salmon but not trout/mackerel etc?

What would be a walkable lake/river fish in town? I do know about mackerel in Salthill.
