Looking for a gaming PC and I don't really want to build it myself. Would prefer it comes pre-built. I saw a DELL XPS 8500 on their site for 999e and that comes with an i7-3770 and a Radeon HD 7870, as well as 2TB SATA HDD and 8GB (2x4GB) RAM.That includes everything except a monitor. Hoping to get a better deal if possible.

    1. What is your budget? 1000e

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

    5. Do you need a monitor? No

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.] Keyboard and mouse

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? No.

    8. How can you pay? Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser/paypal

    9. When are you purchasing? Within the month

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Looking for a pre-built one.

    Thanks.

There are a couple of great alternatives:

    scan.co.uk
    Overclockers UK
    PcSpecialist

These have won multiple awards. In terms of customising, they kick the ****e outta Dell. Far more options for every piece of your system.
Last month i bought a desktop through PcSpecialist and i'm delighted with it.

One point: The core i7 you have listed is overkill for pretty much everything. Downgrade that to an I5 and get a more powerfull graphics card with the money you save.

Had a look at those 3 sites.

I tried to recreate the specs of the Dell one but kept going over by nearly 200! Thats a pretty big difference for basically a few shiny bits on the case.

I wouldnt be the biggest fan of Dell, but for 100 cheaper, I'd nearly consider it!!

Why are you looking for a pre-built? HWVS will build it for you for €20.

    Item|Price
    Intel Core i5-3450 Box, LGA1155|€177.07
    ASRock B75 Pro3, Sockel 1155, ATX|€71.39
    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€34.61
    Sapphire HD 7870 2GB GDDR5 PCI-Express|€222.00
    Samsung SSD 830 64GB SATA 6GB's Paper Box|€67.08
    Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.D 1TB SATA 6GB's|€73.28
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 450W|€43.39
BitFenix Shinobi Midi-Tower USB 3.0 black, ohne Netzteil|€55.01
    Rechner - Zusammenbau|€20.00
    MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SB-Version Englisch|€90.26
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€873.08

That's just excluding keyboard and mouse, they're normally a matter of taste.

This has an SSD in it BTW, which is much better than a SATA hard drive, along with better case, PSU etc.

Any reason why you don't want to overclock? It's very easy relative to previous generations and you can gain significantly from it. Since there's room in the budget with Eboggles' build, I'd still throw in the extra cash for an overclockable CPU with a Z77 motherboard.
