Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nervous about the Sligo v Dundalk game tonight, hope we get through it with a win to maintain a nice lead with the Mons game already skipped.

Didn't realist the gah team were playing today!!

Its Rovers that were playing Dundalk tonight.

Great result for City tonight. We go 5th as Drogs beat Derry.

Sligo have a hand firmly on the trophy as well now. They remain 6 clear with 6 to play. Drogs only have 5.

I think if results go their way, Sligo can wrap it up in Turners Cross on October 5th. Nice if they do and bring a good crowd for us..

Not surprised at a loss tonight, can imagine City were the better team.

It don't get much better than that.

Thank you Stephen Kenny for breaking the Tallaght so called jinx, thank you so much for ensuring bragging rights, thank you for everything.....

There you go Sligo....do us all a favour and take it home from here...;)

The 2 Red Cards Spoiled what was good night for City.

6 points over the few days is most welcome, would have taken 4 easily.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Matthews is doing it to spite us at this point

And City are upto 5th in the league. The league table at the end of the season might actually make for some nice viewing!!!

Worth pointing out it was a Sligo man that won it for ye tonight!

We are very very good at the moment. Don't buy this crap from other fans about us being worse than the last few years.

    Well taken goal from Parker.

Shels went at us but never really threatened, Hughes was Hughes but for all the huff and puff from Hurley and Clancy they never really created a chance on goal. Dawson was decent but only around the halfway line.

Once we reverted to Chambers in front of the back 4 was only ever going to be one winner. Our brazilian looks handy but the bobble caught him out a few times.

Anto Murphy is a dumbass absolute dumbass, didnt change the game if anything gifted us the 2nd. But that was stupid.

Let's say, he is sacked, he would go home with some sort of compensation, would he? Can't remember, if his contract ends when the season ends.

But still, compared to the match against Sligo, I could see some improvement...a little bit though, but something which tells me not to throw the towel.

No offence against Hannover and Hertha Berlin btw ;)

Hahaha, Pat's are playing mediocre football for the first time in years. Mahon and Kenna both played shíte football. Ironic from Set Piece Athletic to pontificate about a team who plays their centre back up front.

He's by far our best striker, he has great feet and has a good finish.

Always thought we played nice football.....

BUT you do know what AOC does or did for the FAI in relation to his coaching courses and who he brought over here for workshops? And what those workshops were about? its kinda ironic hes the one playing a centre back up front :D

Ahhh Set Piece Athletic..... when we were good at corners and frees, Russell to Osam ...BANG.

Dont think we have scored from one this season :( I miss them

Once again our part timers humiliate rovers :-) 7th in the league, beaten the scum twice in a row and on the verge of the semis in the Cup. After we'd lost 4 of the first 5 and took 495 minutes to score our first goal of the season I think we'll take that :D

Hurley is and always has been dire for us. Hughes needs someone playing with him without someone he just gets blocked out like tonight.

Clancy created that near beaut of a goal down towards the Ballybough End! ;) As for Dawson, can't see him being with us much longer, he has so much potential it's unreal.

What did Murphy do? I completely missed it, but he's a moron for his gentle stroll off the pint when we were trying to push for a goal.

Too many stray flicks and backheels tonight tbh, more simple play and a striker who can bag the goals and you's would be a better side. Gifted your two goals between Hurleys mistake for the first and then the second we were caught out on.

Felt he got fouled went down, ref ushered him off so he started abusing the ref. Should have been booked for that but O Connor (they hate each other) said something to him and smiled Murphy squared up to him and raised his hand. O Connor went down super quick. Straight red card.....dumbass tbh.

530 shels 527 pats? I was in the stand with the bar :( along with a fair few others.... how did we get counted?

Fagan is the only player that works for us, we dont need another striker. Just another one like him.

I prefer it when football supporters get the initials correct of the opposing manager (AC not AOC) it's shows but simple knowledge and respect.
When a short-term change in personnel proves to be successful, that shows the versatility of an individual manager and a squad.
Rather than LoI spending time choosing appropriate smilies, maybe some LoI fans could watch some football matches ;) .

    Dates for the diary:
Sat. 13th Oct. Sligo Rovers :St. Pats Ath.
(conquerors of Sligo Rovers, UCD play Drogheda the same w/end)

Friday 19th Oct. Drogheda Utd : Sligo Rovers
(Derry City v.St. Pats Athletic the same weekend)
Any of the above games listed can be moved to facilitate promotion of the League.
Fair play to Drogs for keeping the League competitive.

Very happy FAI stood up to the Cork City/Bray Wanderers whingers wanting to get an advantage over other relegation candidates.
    Check the League table.

We have 4 or 5 players very capable of playing centre half but it seems Devaney may be our first player capable of playing up front besides McMillan, certainly not ideal throwing him up there but against certain teams it works and hopefully it got Hawkins and Oman preparing for an areal battle last night.

Do tell about ACs workshops btw? Most of what I know about him is from interviews and all very promising so far, too much tinkering maybe but at the end of the day we have a young part time squad.

shamrock showed their class last night by unveiling a banner 'RIP volunteer Alan Ryan'

Hopefully someone does a job on them in the cup to make it a great year for every other club in the league.

This time last year they were in the group stages of Europe...Now the support is dwindling, players have zero passion, a manager they can't afford to sack and a board doing nothing to push them forward.

    It's great:D

Not only at HT, went back to the bar after Shels went down ;)

And just thinking about the attendance...I prefer a smaller crowd made of dedicated and true supporters, those, who are behind the team whatever happens, rather than morons, who only turn up when the team is on top of the table, but turn away when the success fades, looking for a different club to support.

I didn't know, Stokesy was a Shamrock Rovers supporter ;)

Seriously, a football match should not be the stage for any political statement. For example, a handful of Borussia Dortmund supporters got themselves in big trouble last time out, they had a banner in support of some fascist group. Serves them right, morons

Ah, but you see I didn't.

While it's not a justification it's a way of dealing with the matter. The poster asks how will they justify it but what he forgot to address is the fact they could completely ignore it. So while you mightn't know when a joke is a joke that's okay. Don't beat yourself up though, you can get a big e-penis another way
