    How in thename of God could any Fine Gael or Labour TD consider getting rid of freetravel passes for the old age pensioners and the disabled. It will beinteresting to see how many of their colleagues on Town, County and CityCouncils will support them if they try and pass such a move. What theGovernment are at is crazy and its time that they started looking at themselvesand their cronies at the top before they even consider thinking about cuttingthe old and the disabled in this country. Bus Eireann and Irish Rail runseveral busses and trains many times a day. Regardless if there is one personon these busses or trains or if they are full, it costs the same amount to runthe bloody service. Why in the name of God, if there is space on these means oftravel why can’t they leave people travel for no cost to them if they areentitled to a pass as things stand. Are the members of our present Governmentso bloody stupid that they cannot see that by allowing people with passes toget out of the house and into towns like Dungarvan or Clonmel or even biggercentres like Waterford, Cork, Dublin, Kilkenny, Limerick, Galway etc, that theyare putting money back into the economy that they could not do so if they wereleft stuck in their houses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Surely every centspend by everyone of us at this point counts, but it appears to be not the caseif you are an Irish Minister or of their advisers. A lot of dirt can be thrownin the direction of Charlie Haughy, but in the mid to late 1960’s he had theforesight to give people the free pass in order to allow people to get out ofthe house and spending what money they have. If they want to make changes tothe scheme, let them go after people that are using passes they have borrowed,stolen or of dead people. We all know it is happening. I would love to knowwhat shop owners etc think of what the Government are planning. Would theycampaign to save the free travel if the government do insist on getting rid ofit. Do the shop keepers value the custom of the people that come into the shophaving travelled by the free bus pass. I know several in Dungarvan that doanyway. In the past when F.F. tried totake the medical card of the over 70’s they revolted, this week when they triedto make cuts to the disabled they took to the streets until a back down wasmade and they might be back on the streets again in the near future. Its timethat the people began to open the eyes of our TD’s and the councillors thatsupport them no matter what they do. Ok, Rant over for now.

    I suggest two things here OP;
    1) Use the Politics Forum for political rants (unless its Waterford specific) and

    2) Spread your post out into paragraphs.

    :)
