updating player databases from older versions of the game

Say I have FM 2010 and it has been gathering dust for a while, is there anyway I can update the player database in that game and use the old game engine rather than buying the new game?

I think the file transfer from version to version but could be wrong

I honestly don't think anyone has done a transfer update for FM10 mate.
