Ok, so its stolen borrowed a little from DPS but at the suggestion of Dakar, I should do stuff (I guess at least occasionally) that might get people out with their camera so be warned :)

So your mission should you decide to accept it is to get a photo(s) @ 50mm. This thread for this weekend only, Shoot something, Shoot anything at 50mm, and post the result.

Not limited to primes, but if using a zoom then stick it at 50mm. Any aperture, any ISO, just keep it at 50mm.

So, one photo (at least) from you all, How about it? G'wan g'wan.

Count me in but does it matter what size sensor/film size I use?

    great!

um... does the sensor/film come in a 50mm variety?

nope, so long as its 50 in front of the camera, thereafter film or digital is good, and anyone that does film, feel free to post later on if developing takes a day or two more.

But if I shoot film, I'll have the film processed in 12 - 18 months, that rules me out :D

perhaps you could make this a weekly thing? :) (or "fifty fridays"?)
took some shots this morning (film) with a fifty, but they won't be developed for a while

Could be a long running thread :D

But seriously, that's a lot of fun. Shoot, forget, develop, surprise. Love it.

    Shhh! You'll wake DaireQuinlan!

50mm is 50mm is 50mm. Just because the results *look* different on different sensor/film sizes, the focal length of a 50mm lens is 50mm.

    Shoot at 50mm.

    :D

    50mm...

    we'll take 31.25mm or 50mm.

I think from what I gather we may even have faux-50mm phone taken photo somewhere in our midst, so lets all watch out for that one. Anyways, it will all be good :D

aye, I'm heading out and about soon, so the fifty is fitted.

Don't forget people, if you don't have a 50mm prime, stick a zoom on and stop it at 50mm. Tis all about getting out, seeing, and taking photographs.

Working in a club tonight and I need some encouragement to bring the camera out with me! I'll stick on my nifty fifty so and hopefully shoot something worth posting!

Maybe it's because I'm on a crop sensor, but I I don't understand the love the fifty gets! Once you get over the whole 'bokeh' aspect of the 1.8 (or the 1.4, if you're fortunate enough to have one) there's just not much to recommend about the 50mm length. Very awkward to work with.

I kind of wish I'd just bought the Tamron 17-50 2.8.

    Thread-pooper in the house, y'all!
