My friend is hoping to take a course at night and I've been trying to help him find something of interest. He has a degree in Marketing & Publicity from Brazil but has worked in retail since he came to Dublin 5 years ago. He's competent enough at graphic design & computing. He's Brazilian and also has EU (Portuguese)…

My friend is hoping to take a course at night and I've been trying to help him find something of interest. He has a degree in Marketing & Publicity from Brazil but has worked in retail since he came to Dublin 5 years ago. He's competent enough at graphic design & computing. He's Brazilian and also has EU (Portuguese) citizenship.

I've looked at various courses with him but it's a catch 22 situation - adult education is too basic and a diploma is a large & expensive commitment. Still, he'd like to study again and he's convinced that he needs to study something because of the length of time between qualifying and looking for professional work.

Is there any alternative for someone in his situation?
