Yes but have you been paid anything yet? Is there anything in your contract that states you will be paid having been "booked"?

(I hope this new post didn't get everyone's hopes up too much:))

On today fm this morning they said it was going ahead

I received an email yesterday from Yurtel.co.uk as follows.......

'We've been waiting some time to be able to spread the good news which we can now shout from the Yurt tops ...

    "Electric Picnic is a go!"

The brilliantly creative and crazy festival is definitely going ahead - so ignore the rumours. We'll be back and pitching our luxurious accommodation to give you your own little sanctuary in the midst of the magical mayhem.'

After all this hype, waiting & expectations people can't but be dissappointed by the line up. (if and when).

  • Registered Users Posts: 565 ✭✭✭roll

somewhat like glastionbury, the line up ultimately doesn't matter!

  • Registered Users Posts: 565 ✭✭✭roll

if it did, i wouldn't be going to glastonbury, what with artic monkeys and mumford and sons headlining....

Still sceptical tbh, but sure no harm in a little speculation!

If poundhound is correct and the Prince show has been cancelled

Then surely it's Prince for Stradbally.....

Indeed, if there's one thing this thread lacks its speculation...

Prince would've been Aiken who have nothing to do with the picnic.

Would be a perfect closer though

until the court case is finsihed and its confirmed that both body and soul and Salty dog will happen i'm not getting excited

I take it you didn't see my tongue in my cheek then.

I invested in Primavera tickets as I lost the faith but certainly EP is looking more hopeful. Fingers crossed for Portishead & Aphex Twin

as much as i'm looking forward to longitude it is EP's biggest stumbling block.....

Prince was with POD and not Aiken so could still happen but would MCD/Festival Republic book him

Yurtels are mad expensive, and it doesn't include the ticket price either!

If you click on the link in his tweet, the €950 tent is sold out already!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭Mountainlad

Sorry, I wasn't talking about the tent. I was more wondering was his comment about Electric Picnic definitely being on serious, or was he making reference to what someone suggested yesterday as possible 'shameless marketing' by Yurtel to try and capitalize on peoples uncertainty?

Jim Carroll really is obsessed with talking up Longitude. Is he being paid off by MCD? Or is he now too cool for EP?! Will he be giving Longitude 2 the same treatment next year?!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,829 ✭✭✭Toast

Jim Carroll is great for information but you shouldn't look at his blog as traditional journalism. It is an opinion piece and it is very weighted by his personality which seems to revel in proving points he made in the past are right. As he has been predicting problems with EP for months now anything that shows it up will get waved by him as further proof.

Aye, very true. It's just his almost fetishisation of a pretty average Longitude Festival that I can't understand. Undoubtedly though, he tends to put a bit too much weight on his own opinion!
