I'm late coming into this thread....would I be right in saying Arctic Monkeys are rumoured for the Picnic??

Ouch! My little joke got me a little dig! Wonder if photos which are easily identifiable as being from a particular year would be enough? Even one would get you the €169 ticket.

Any chance of Youth Lagoon coming? Really like his stuff. Never listened to Warpaint before but I have to say I'm enjoying what I've heard today.

Pity Longitude is on. Plenty of bands I would like to see but they're kind of scattered, which wouldn't bother me if it was camping but between it not being and trying to get accomodation and travel to Marlay Park and the reduction in Electric Picnic prices and how much I enjoyed last year, I'd really prefer to just go to EP.

If the Arctic Monkeys rumour is true then the chances of Miles Kane playing must be extremely high. Nearly always plays on the same day as them at festivals.

I've never been to Electric Picnic before but if Arctic Monkeys are playing I'll be there in the front row!!

If it is Fat Boy Slim/Bjork/Arctic Monkeys then thats a pretty poor set of headliners (bar Bjork)

Went throught the proposed list. Highlighted in Bold are acts that are actively touring Europe this summer and have EP shaped gaps in their schedule. Comments were for my own amusement only, but am serious about Portishead. No excuses, they have to be there

    Bjork
    Arctic Monkeys
    Fatboy Slim
    Massive Attack
    Alabama shakes
    Atoms For Peace
    Band of Horses
    Biffy Clyro
Bat For Lashes (touring US in August)
Foals (playing longtitude so I’d say not)
    Franz Ferdinand
Editors (playing Italian fest on the 1st so possible)
Daft Punk (Ive booked them for a wedding that weekend so sorry lads)
Jake Bugg (playing longtitude so I’d say not)
    Kendrick Lamar
    The Knife
    The Lumineers
    Major Lazer
Nine Inch Nails (playing Philidelphia on the 31st of August so no chance)
    Tame Impala
    MIA
    Bombay Bicycle Club
    The Flaming Lips
    Wu Tang Clan
    Belle & Sebastian
    My Bloody Valentine
    System Of A Down
    Jessie Ware
    Sinead O’ Connor
(sure what else would she be doing on a Saturday afternoon? Trip to Ikea?)
    James Blake
    Johnny Marr
    Bastille
    Alt-J
    The Strypes
( they have been boasting about this for months, no shocker there)
    Dexys
Caravan Palace (not booked for any gigs in Europe after June so would say they are taking their holiers then)
    Delorentos
    Hackney Empire
    The Roots
    Savages
    The Walkman
    John Cooper Clark
    Codes
    Laura Mvula
    Billy Bragg
(of course he will be there, sure hes coming to picket on behalf of the civil servants that weekend #crokepark2)
HAIM (playing Philidelphia on the 31st of August so no chance)
Hurts (absolutely, sure the y have bought new suits, got to get their moneys worth)
    The 2 Bears
Portishead (this will happen, failure is not an option)
    First Aid Kit
Olaf Tyransen (Sure he can’t keep a secret)

    Would also add,
    David Byrne & St Vincent
    Warpaint
    Frightened Rabbit
    Dinosaur Jr

i was be ecstatic with even some of the above highlighted..

Arctic Monkeys is a strange one if it's true. Even more strange than the Killers last year. Certain Electric Picnic "fans" probably won't like it.

Whoever was asking about youth lagoon. They're playing here later in the year.

If you mean they'll attract a rough crowd or whatever, then I doubt it. The last two Arctic Monkeys albums weren't very commercial and they've gone off the radar for many people whilst probably drawing a wider fan-base with the heavier stuff. Maybe not the best headliners, but I can't see how The Killers are more worthy than a solid rock act like AM.

Die Antwoord are playing their own gig here sometime in the summer iirc, although i'd love to see them at EP too.

Thursday 20th of June in the Olympia. Not sure what to expect really but I'm sure it will be an experience!

Sure as long as the Casa Bacardi place & The Rave in the Woods are still there that's all that matters. Yeow

the Bacardi bar was decent for some good house music (if you can ignore the posers about the place) but the rave in the woods was hugely disappointing last year. I preferred the smaller setup they had in previous years. The larger stage setup felt just too big and too spread out, losing its intimacy.

Phew ticketmaster history has my €150 tickets in the bag. Wonder how the wristband proof will work?? Unless they take them off you there'll be plenty swapped/shared/traded to get the cheaper tickets. Hmm...maybe mine are worth a few quid?!?

Ticket master on twitter "It's just one ticket per person. We'll have further details on this later on in the week"

Never understood the Bacardi bar or its appeal at the picnic, to me it's the complete opposite to the rest of the picnic! Kinda like having a huge advertising bill-board outside Newgrange.

It's a bit crap in that sense for sure, but some absolute belter sets there last year.

i missed Terje as James Murphy was on at the same time.
missed him in December as he was on a Monday night, which is no good for work the next morning.
going to miss him in May as he's here on one of the nights of Life festival

a recording of The 2 Bears set is online if you don't have it. it was played on 2FM I think.
