To get a Canadian drivers license you will need to do the test as there is no way of swapping straight.
If you have an Irish license for more than two years you can do the advanced test and go straight for an unrestricted license.
less than two years you will do the basic driving test andhave to hold that for two years before you sit the advanced test.
If you dont have a drivers license at present you will start from scratch and have to do a year on a learners permit before you you can even sit the basic test

TD were the cheapest insurer for us at $1500 a year

registration is cheap we got on the road for $60 dollars for the plate and registration til March

Winter tyres are a good idea much grippier so good for snow and ice.
avoid rwd cars as they have no weight on the driven wheels so much more likelyh to spin in snow
any yes Insurance is frigging dear pring your proofs of NCB with you
