I have been living in an apartment for 3 years but my flatmate is moving out. She used to manage the bills so now they need to be transferred into my name.

They want a €300 security deposit from me - apparently no way around it as I'm not the owner and I have no history with them.

Has anyone else had this, can I switch to ESB etc and avoid this?

Do you still have to pay by Direct Debit in order to avoid this charge with electric Ireland?
