If it can't be fixed , ask for a replacement.

Hmmm don't believe that. Did you cause the damage?

You can take it anywhere you want, so plenty of other phone repair options which you can find on Nokia.ie. Two examples are fonfix or fonemenders

    What did the report say?

    Where was it sent?

he said it cant be fixed
its a nokia shop, no need to send it anywhere
    they fix the phones there
he said the phone was only good for parts

If its authorised for level 4 repairs then it must be gone.

I presume its not responding to usb charge? Failing that, try one of the cash for your mobile sites

yes thats what i thought, if they cant fix it who can
can you recommend any trusted sites?

Is it physically broke or just is not charging ?

the charger socket in the phone is broke so wont take charge
    rest of phone is perfect

Plug the USB cable into the socket on the side, and the other end into a switched on PC. It should charge.

Yes I understand that the charger port on the bottom is broke, but can you not still charge the phone via the USB port connection?

I'm typing this on my own Nokia N8 right now! On the left side of the phone, there is a mini-USB port, if you plug in the USB cable that came with your phone, and plug the other end into your laptop, it will charge your phone, you won't have to worry about the charger port down on the bottom end of the phone.

Not happy with the Nokia customer service. I bent a couple of pins in the sim card slot in my N8 and the phone has been declared damaged beyond economical repair.

Well, it's either this mod, or one very expensive brick. Though it seems you're not alone when I googled. I would suggest you approach nokia again and state that you have see if they are more willing to accomodate you. How I got my Nokia N8 was I left my Nokia X6 into fonemenders to be fixed (screen distortion issue) and instead of fixing it, they sent back an N8 as a repair upgrade instead. This was only a month ago which is why I seem to be posting in the N8 threads a bit more regularly! :D

You cant use micro sim adapter with this type of pin setup. They will push in fine, but they stick on the pins when coming out as you found out. You should have been told this when buying the adapter. Im pretty sure its also in the N8 manual

Well, I learned it the hard way. Now, moving on I've to decide between another N8 or an iphone 4s.

808 ftw, its quicker than the N8 and I think the camera might be better ;)

    Title updated
