Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I said I'd like to see Harry Kenny get the job to my dad earlier. I know I'm not the only one but we're probably a minority? There's other guys out there with more LOI experience.

What about Stephen Kenny as next Shels manager?

    He would be this welcome

Hearing things about Staunton having his name in the hat and being considered. Willing to work for cheaper than most seemingly.

I hear Sean Connor is available.

Great manager, and he knows Steve Bruce.

About as welcome as Matthews at Rovers Id say!

Not one bit shocked that Kenny has gone . It was only a matter of when in the end as I feel after the season Rovers had last year and with the players they brought in during the off season it has been a very poor season for Rovers.

Egil Østenstad is in the running. Flying in next week.

After the Matthews reign of terror, I could probably just about take him in.

I'd say it's mainly down to club officals.

The kitman has been very poor this season and his defending has cost them a lot of goals from set pieces.

The groundsman has been very poor in goal. Very little communication with his back four.

Club treasurer hasn't been chipping in with the goals either when Twigg has been out of form.

Nice one but rovers might be closer to the top of the table if they had used the kitman, groundsman and the club treasurer in their starting 11 instead. :).
How much fault should be on the manager? Players? and maybe the club officials for giving Kenny the job in the first place? Did he have the full support of the club?

Well, there goes our next 2 seasons transfer funds.
Much deserved though, Rico being the only LoI merry-go-round manager id be happy with.

Wasn't he on a full time contract? Over 2 years left on a 100k wage, not a bad pay off I'd say, I should have popped into the Sub for his round tonight after work.

Kevin Kilbane will no doubt through his hat in like a lot.

seriously would anyone honestly even waste 1 cent on Roy Keane at 66s?!

Wouldn't be shocked with Johnny McDonnell

Of course they would, that is why he is there.

It is also why Con Murphy is there. Fools will thrown away cents/few euros on it. 100% profit for Paddy Power.

Matthews 15/2 now for all you doubters.

In fairness, that's probably based on Paddy Power reading the Shelbourne forums.

Better value than Scully at 18s. :D

If we're talking daft prices Roddy at 25/1 is just insane. Fairly certain the manager will be from outside of the league.

Wonder if Fenlon's missus is in his ear saying there is a job at home.

    33/1 could shorten.

Personally think he would be mad to leave but his family are still in Dublin:confused:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

The board already snubbed Fenlon once and he's had a decent start to the season with Hibs.

    Already into 5/1

When was he snubbed? He took the Hibs gig before Kenny took over

what would it actually take to move Fenlon from 33/1 to 5/1 in that market? i'd say less than 100 quid. Like that could literally be 1 fella putting 50 quid on him at 33's and they have to shift him in to 5's!! I think Next Manager markets are a disaster, punters surely can't win in them!!

I think it was that Fenlon was waiting to see if he would get the job when it was clear MON wasn't going to sign another contract last season. Board said no, so he went elsewhere.

Fenlon's had a great start to the season with Hibs, be mad to leave

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

The only people to win on these markets are people with inside sources. The bookies are happy to pay out a grand here and there when they have idiots putting a tenner on Keane at 66s.

The bookies clean up at these markets

    Kenny cleaned up himself too.

Be rubbish for 9 months, get a big payoff. Only in football, eh?

Well no not really, its up to the board in insert clauses into contracts, perhaps if there was a confidence results based half season clause in there pay offs could have been minimised.

Unbeaten at home for the season till Monday, unbeaten in 13 league games. In a cup final, still in the FAI Cup. Would say he'd have a good case if it went to court.

    liam buckkey is not inconceivable.

Pay to sack a manager and then pay another club to sign their manager? Doubt it. Unless they can convince him to retire for a day or two before hiring him.

On a 2 year deal so monies would be owing. Already there before and well you know what they are like Hiddink or noone.

uhh few pats fans that havent been banned have put together a list of possible managers mentioned by rovers fans.

    /this is fcuking mental....seriously mental......

    Julian Dicks
    Roy Keane
    Gus Hiddink
    Ruud Gullitt

right so leave it at that....../WOW

    liam buckkey is not inconceivable.

Considering Kenny's pay out, the manager we go after will not have a club or will be able to walk out of their club.

I wouldnt be surprised if Hooperman was offered it tbh, he's around the budget target anyway at about a 10er an hour, every second friday.

In fairness Julian Dicks *apparently* applied for the Waterford United job a while back when Stephen Henderson got the sack. Wouldn't be that shocked if there's something to that rumour...

But Hiddink and Gullitt? Where'd they come from? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

    Phil Brown
    Roy Keane
    Brian Laws
    Ruud Guillit
    Harry Redknapp
    Peter Reid

    shortlist from rovers fans.

    /wow

Staunton would be my choice or Jeff kenna.

Wasn't Dicks in for the Rovers job after Cook went to Stanley? Maybe that was just a rumour.

Hiddink and Gullit were both mentioned jokingly, surely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,142 ✭✭✭Ebbs

Dicks was yes, no idea why, he has a poorer record than Roddy.

The rest of the people that are being mentioned, like Keane/Kilbane/Cunningham/Staunton are all down to noise from their own management companies, nothing from Rovers. (Both Rovers)

Still can see it being down to Jim Magilton or Rico.

    Rico?

    hahahahaha
