With the traffic lights being out order n Monday and,Tuesday traffic was actually was actually quite good.

How can what ever authorities involved not notice this and realise something is wrong.

I wish they would just build a road around, a tunnel under or a bridge over that place. That one little village is the bane of commuting life.

That would sort out most of the problems with traffic in Galway city too but it would cost a ridiculous amour of money to carry out. Not a hope of that happening in the current economic climate.

Kraftwerk91, you can sing that, sure they don't have money to fix potholes. Was just wishful thinking!

PS When you quote someone, don't change the text!;)

15 million apparently, apparently half what it would have cost a few years ago.
Excelltnt value considering the volume of traffic it would carry.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to build today; cheaper labour, cheaper land costs?

the traffic through Claregalway in the morning is absolutly brutal , no other way to put.
The lights were off for a couple of days recently , it was brilliant.

I am ok for the lights but only if set correctly. Should be green longer during peak time for the traffic on the N17. Sometimes you can only pass 10 / 15 cars at once.

I just read in the Niacht Chlair paper about the Claregalway bypass:
Ready to proceed to compulsory purchase orde stage by the end of this year
    Funding is being sought
€200k has already been spent on the project
Cost would be in region of 15 million, which is €10million cheaper than 5 or 6 years ago
Bypass would start at Kiniska skirt by Claregalway corporate park and join up
    at Cregboy
