Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'd love if Gerrard retired from the international nonsense tbh.

    Absolutely shocking attendance.
    What's the attendance?

Att: 68,102, or nearly one old Wembley Stadium.

The biggest crowd anywhere in Europe tonight on a Tuesday against Ukraine, who are not exactly box office.

People need to leave club bias at the door before jumping into this thread.

He played well in the Euro's as well to be fair to him. He is an easy target now though so jump away on the bandwagon.

You can go to Gerrard/Lampard debate to see the bandwagon im on;)

Some people just cant handle the truth.

He did not play good 90 minutes in Euros and when he came up against decent sides he fell was nowhere to be seen.

Some confusion here about what was said and what wasn't said.

The Welbeck peno was not a peno and ITV said so on the replay, it looked like it was at the time, they noted the ref got it bang on and they didn't. No big deal so move along nothing to see.

    You talking about the handball?

If so all the panel said it was a pen.

The handball was a peno, the the earlier Welbecks dangling right leg (?) moment was not.

Stopped well short of calling it cheating or a dive had it been the other way

I only wish Roy would agree with you.

Glen Johnson really needs to get a grip fast. Maybe some hypnosis. "i am NOT a right winger". The amount of times he is getting caught as the furthest forward for club and country is unreal and he's putting both Liverpool and England under tremendous pressure. It's well and good getting forward but there was about 3 times when England lost the ball and he was ahead of Jermaine Defoe!! Similar piece was highlighted on MOTD recently for his club.

Johnson has always been a wing back type player. He does nothing any differently in terms of position on the pitch that any great attacking full back has ever done. He is quite clearly told to get forward when he can, he is great at it, and that's why Milner was picked, he does nothing in attack but is tidy and gets back to cover.

ah here, attacking full backs should not be caught time and again AHEAD of the main striker, surely the striker should be furthest up the field not the full back waiting for a pass!!! Did you see Match of the Day for the Liverpool v Arsenal highlights? They showed it well then how often he left the entire side unbalanced and stretched by his constant ventures forward. Getting forward is one thing but when he's constantly left so far forward when attacks break down it leaves the side unbalanced. He has to do some defending as well. Otherwise play Milner at right back.

Why not? that's how Brazilian fullbacks play, and have played, for a very long time. Cafu, Maicon etc, loads of them down the years. Do you not think its odd that he keeps getting picked for these teams and continues to do it?, do you think managers are telling him to not do it?. Theres a reason you know, he gets told to get forward at every opportunity. Forget MOTD, the same lads would be creaming themselves, like they did for example when he scored the winner away at Chelsea last season doing the same thing near the end of the game. Kyle Walker also gets caught out too and so does Baines, its nothing new, we arent breaking new ground here with Johnson.

Cross the ball from in front of the forwards and they don't have to worry about being offside. Simples.

Johnson is very good at overlapping with the right midfielder and has the pace to go past the leftback.

Please never use the word great when describing Glenn Johnson. He is slightly above average at best.

Only the most blinkered of Liverpool fans would call Johnson a great player.
At times, like last weekend, he's a liability

I thought England were alright. Ukraine looked more comfortable in possession but there's nothing new there. At least Hodgson has England trying to be patient in the build-up.

I can't say that I'd have felt harshly done by had we not equalised as we didn't do enough all game but then you look back at the Defoe goal being ruled out, Cleverley missing a number of sitters and him & Welbeck both hitting the post..... as poorly as England usually play they always create a handful of great chances.

Shame to see so many empty seats at Wembley. That said it was still by far the biggest gate in Europe and twice what Germany got at the weekend.

This won't be the last case of dropped points in this group. I fancy England, Ukraine, Montenegro and Poland to all take points off of each other and a relatively low total being required to top the group.
