Hey all,

I ordered a pair of Kingston 4 gig sticks recently and received them today. Alas, one of the heat spreaders was falling off, an extremely light dousing of glue being the culprit (The thermal tape is attached to the spreader just fine).
I dont want to RMA over this small thing, so can I just whip out the super glue and add a drop to some of the memory modules, or do I need specialist glue (The memory is clocked at 1600) or are temps not really a concern?

Do not use super glue! You'd want some kind of thermal paste. This can take a long time to dry though and might cause the heatsink to fall off the first few times when it heats up.

Temperature of DDR3 usually isn't that high and for the most part, I think it's just aesthetics. You would probably be okay without it if you've got reasonably good airflow in the case. Try to get a hold of some thermal paste that doesn't take forever to dry though, if you can.

Thanks gents. As you said Monotype, the temp probably wont be getting very high in my case as its full ATX with no overclocking planned, so I'll see how I get on without the heat sync... Fingers crossed.
