I knew a guy who swore thechrome door handle off a 1976 Ford Cortina was the best jigging lure he's ever used for pollock off the Daunt in Cork, but that's another story...

... but seriously, these lures are getting pricey to be hauling over weed and rocks, anyone made their own cheaply - and used them successfully?

    Any tips or websites?

that cortina handle was in a fishing book I had as a kid. possibly a john wilson one.

anyways, save cash; shop further away

I was thinking that jelly worms wouldnt be very hard to make? I tube of silicone and the shape of the worm carved into a piece of timber (10 second job with a dremel multitool).

    Anyone ever tried?

Silicone might not work due to the scent, its very vinigery when you pour it... Might be something else that can be used...

Just like Oldat31 asked......have you bought from this site? Some of the braid looks really worthwhile but not if it doesn't arrive or card gets ripped off

I read an article a few weeks ago about someone fishing for wrasse using Natural confectionary (spelt wrong I know) jelly worms. Best of all you can eat the left over bait :) I meant to try it myself but keep forgetting to get them!!

Cheers for that. Interesting. I did think of that before but assumed the "baits" would come apart at the slightest knock by a fish.

I'll be spending a lot of time on the rocks for the next month so might just try it for the craic :)
