Is broadband available over ISDN?

    We want it for the second line, but not if we have to lose the broadband to get it. The guys on 1901 are clueless. They insist ISDN "is broadband".

    Nope. They are incompatible technologies. Your best option is to get an additional PSTN line for the broadband.
    If you call it ADSL instead of 'broadband' you might have more luck. A term like 'broadband' has no fixed definition, so, even though I think some people may 'play dumb' purely to aggravate, specifying ADSL removes any potential misinterpretation, whether wilful or not.

    Well if the line is ISDN and if you are not on one of the 270 exchanges with no ADSL you should qualify automatically for ADSL by virtue of having ISDN. ISDN lines are tested very thoroughly and are better maintained than normal lines. eircom must send an engineer to change you off ISDN to ADSL though.
