Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Robinson is just trying to look like a "proper" Unionist for his electorate. He knows well that no such apology will ever be forthcoming.

"There is a clear connection between what the IRA did in its infancy and the government of the Irish Republic.

"I think the Irish Republic would do well to look at its role and recognise that it was not the way it should have behaved in those days and apologise for it because massive death and destruction followed," he said.

When Robinson and his friends in the Third Force, Vanguard, UDA, RUC, B Specials, DUP, Orange Order, RBP and all the rest apologise for the sectarian, herrenvolk hellhole they made in the Occupied Six Counties, maybe the government of Ireland should consider apologising for that bank account and those arms sent to help Irish people who were being driven out of their homes in the worst pogroms in western Europe since the end of WWII.

In a single night in August 1969 over 1800 Irish families were burned out of their homes in Belfast by Robinson's crowd. Paisley came out and said that the reason so many people were burned out was because they had ammunition in their homes and they caught fire. In other words: the Fenians only had themselves to blame. Reeling in the Years showed a clip recently of children from Belfast in a refugee camp in Gormanston Co Meath. It was harrowing to listen to those Irish children talk about their lives since being driven out of Belfast. This shít was in Ireland, not Bosnia. It was 1972, and these children were still in this refugee camp in Co. Meath. These were Irish kids. And it was the ugly state-sponsored sectarianism of Robinson's loyalist community which was responsible. The gall on him. If Mr Robinson wants to get into "apologies", I propose we start in 1609. I'll be a long time making a list, if he really wants to go there.

Using the massacre of 10 innocent men (who tried to hide a Catholic because they thought it was a 'loyalist' ambush) to score political points is truly ****ing disgusting.

    Nasty little boy.

If theres some things I can be certain about its that that poster is not a loyalist. The amount of loyalist history he/she has misrepresented is ridiculous.

Start a campaign to get him back in his AFC name. I enjoyed his subtle trolling.

Great post and one that should be posted to Peter's email address.

Starting at 23.00, here's some archive footage of the establishment of refugee camps along the border in 1969 (Reeling in the Years, 1969):

Starting at 5.02 (Reeling in the Years, 1970), here's some archive footage from Gormanston refugee camp in Meath, including that young lad from Belfast talking:

How many people are even aware of this part of our history? Is Peter Robinson? And seeing as he's a sudden grá for apologies, is he going to apologise for the actions of his community?

Thought this was ironic when you consider this is Peter during the troubles:

Perhaps the successor of the infamous Stormont government of the 1960s/70s ought to apologise too for its involvement in promoting/upholding loyalist/protestant violence against nationalist/catholic communities which in turn fanned the flames of the Troubles.

Here's Jack Lynch's masterful broadcast on RTÉ during that horrible time explaining exactly why Ireland needed to take action on what was happening in the North, which in many regards could be viewed as ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the unionist dominated Stormont establishment of the day. No apologies. We were almost on the brink of going to war at one stage. The arrogance of the UK government denied UN peace keepers in NI, even though it was a reasonable request given the gravity of the situation and the fact that much of the local population in NI would have felt less disdain towards UN peace keepers than to the British Army.

....when the reigning monarch of britain gets down on his/her knees to beg and plead forgiveness, in every country that suffered from centuries of colonial murder, pillage, plunder, land grabs etc...

    not even then.

He of the mad wife who said gay folk need to see a psychiatrist and made her feel 'sick and nauseous'.

She also came off wth this gem.
There can be no viler act, apart from homosexuality and sodomy, than sexually abusing innocent children.

    You read that correctly.
