    Jack Beats is the type of act expected this year.

    The Sunday of Ceamfields headliners seem to also fit the bill imo:

    yeah he is in Europe on the 3-4th August

    He doesn't do live sets anymore though. It's just a case of him pressing play. Wouldn't excite me as much as it did before.

    Both Lollapalooza and Osheaga are on the same weekend. This actually makes me happy 'cause I thought there would be a few acts that I liked playing Oxegen and that I would be tempted to go then. I was more than likely never going to go but I thought there would be at least a few artists I like, at Oxegen, but now I won't have to feel like I'm missing them or anything. And I honestly now think that that when the lineup comes out, there won't be even one act that I'd like to see. If you take away all the Lollapalooza and Osheaga acts, and the Longitude/Forbidden Fruit acts, and people like Bastille and Solange who are playing different festivals here already, I don't have a clue who's going to be play Oxegen. It looks like it will be extremely dancey.

    This is assuming that those playing the two festivals below, which are both in North America, won't be playing Oxegen. Would I be correct in making this assumption, or is there still a chance that some could?

    you're pretty much right, there's little chance of any of them flying back for Oxegen really, especially the bands/acts with instruments, or acts playing both those festivals.
    might get a few DJs who don't really have much gear, band members, or crew to bring with them that could theoretically play Oxegen, as well as one of those festivals, but i'd imagine very few would ultimately do that.

    Hey, anyone know what happened to Oxegen? Remember back in February when MCD boss Denis Desmond talked about an announcement to come in March? We’re well into April and there is no sign of anything about the event last seen in Punchestown Racecourse in 2011 (the website needs an aul’ spruce-up). OTR has heard a few mutterings from agents about enquiries for various dance and hip-hop acts (The Prodigy were mentioned a few times), but nothing concrete or confirmed (UPDATE: via Elaine Buckley below, we see that Calvin Harris’ agent has taken a booking deposit for Oxegen and Ciaran tells us that Jack Beats is also Oxegen-bound). We know that record labels are announcing new album releases later and later in the day for various reasons, but we hadn’t realised it also now applied to live events requiring thousands of people to make plans for a weekend.

    Jim Carroll seems clueless regarding Oxegen.Two readers had to point out that Jack Beats and Calvin Harris have confirmed they are playing the festival.

    or it'll be a very different line-up then the usual chart stuff

    tbf, i don't think anyone really knew about them unless they read this thread in the last few days, or if it was posted elsewhere.
    I doubt the promoters are ringing up journalists etc. to leak their lineups either...
