Hi, just a quick question, can an esb account be switched to another name and bank account for direst debit payments without going through the closing/opening account rigmarole?

In a shared house with the named billpayer moving out, what is the best/easiest way to change names on account?

    Hi N17er,

In this situation, whoever is to become the new Electric Ireland account-holder would be required to open a new account in their name (a "move-in"). The person leaving the address takes their account with them or closes it.
To open an account, an up-to-date meter reading is the main requirement - and the person departing is required to supply us with one also, so that there is no overlap. Further details for opening a new account here.

    Regards,
    Una
