Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Probably not but we did which is the main thing at the end of the day.

    ''There's the foul.''

Lets just zoom in by 50 times because that's what the referee sees too.

At some stage, you have to wonder if some of those celebrating without considering any of the game's merits are doing so just to troll or, when the dust has settled, they still reckon they still deserved it.

Everyones favourite pundit said it was a peno. And he said at half time it was a sending off. Looks like the ref was right. If Gary says it, it must be true

No way that Gerrard was Motm over Ferdinand either.

No Utd player put in a MOTM performance.

I see the contact now but Valencia is already going down and Suarez's was just as much a peno if not more so if thats the case.

No, didn't play well enough. We all know
how awesome united are on form, but what makes then great is winning consistently when they're out of form

Just watched Gary Neville (who's being fair) describe the contact but I don't see it.

I thought as the slow mo went on he couldn't see it either but couldn't back track.

No, they did not. That makes it so much sweeter.

Typical blaming of the ref by Liverpool fans.

They just didn't take their chances when they had them, simple as.

He also said Evans should have been sent off and Liverpool should have had a pen so the ref got all the big decision right in Uniteds favour

There's definite contact. Valencia had pulled back his leg to shoot and Johnson clipped it. That's a pen all day long. So is Suarez's too/

I think, when the dust buggers off, most United fans will be worried about how badly Evra was vs Sterling and our lack of creativity.

Personally, I would rather be cheering a good performance against 11 men, but what fan isn't pleased with 3 points in an away game?

Guardian.co.uk sums it up about right
Full time: Liverpool 1-2 Manchester United. After one of their worst performances in recent memory, Manchester United have their first victory at Anfield since 2007 and move up to second in the table. The victory papers over the cracks in this side though, because for long periods they were absolutely dire. Yet they got the rub of the green with the refereeing decisions, which means they leave with the points. Somehow Liverpool end a match they dominated from start to finish empty-handed. They're 18th in the table after five matches. It will get better though. Thanks for reading. Bye.

Good win for United in a game where Liverpool were up for it in emotional circumstances.

Can't wait to get Rooney back now.

Exactly. The only thing that's better than handing out a hammering is a smash and grab wins that leaves us with 3 points and opposition fans blaming the ref while we laugh.

The ref is the main reason that Utd took the three points today. It's that simple really.

Great analysis on Sky in fairness. Knowledgeable, impartial, and considered. Much like on here!

Both Neville and Rednapp agree Liverpool should have had a penalty for Evans tackle on Suarez, but that Suarez unnatural dive may have led the ref to believe he was being conned.

Neville showed how the United penalty was correct and that Johnson clipped Valencia's right foot, pushed him in the back, and caught his left leg.

The criticism of the ref here is way over the top and fairly bizarre.

Liverpool didn't win because they didn't have the quality to take advantage of there possession. Jonjo shouldn't have gave the ref a decision to make, the peno was a peno anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional

The ref had 4-5 game changing decisions to make in the game and made 3 of them wrong all in utds favour
Not sure there is over the top in those circumstances

Johnson's reaction says all I need to know about the peno.

I haven't been that upbeat leaving a game Liverpool lost ever, they battered UTD and it will come good, you can't be angry or blame the players after a performance like that. It's just circumstances outside Liverpools control made sure Liverpool didn't get anything from the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,709 ✭✭✭✭Cantona's Collars

Absolute rubbish play by United, delighted to get the win.Liverpool put in their best performance since the City game but still hadn't enough.

No complaints here about refereeing, after Luiz getting away with a similar tackle,I feel the ref had no choice but to show Shelvey a red.As for Suarez,he's got a bad reputation for diving & whining so the way he fell it looked as if he'd been shot in the back so no chance of a penalty being given.
Glen Johnson got caught out for Uniteds pen & tackled from behind-only one outcome there.

the ref was terrible as most have said, its incredible how many decisions man utd have had go in the favour already this season

Also missed the first half(5.30am) but that was a shocking 2nd half performance. Not sure what was happened our wingers this season. Not that ecstatic to finally win at Anfield.

Lloyds™ big heart play of the day goes to Valencia for the run that led up to the peno, more of that please.

10 v 12 and still liverpool the dominant side, amazed really, unlucky to lose, reina had zero to do apart from the goals, referee had a big impact on the game giving decisions against liverpool that he didn't for similar things against united

overall positive signs for liverpool, if they maintain that kind of intensity they'll push up the table fast - failure to secure a quality striker though will cost them plenty of points, looks like they picked up a few injuries too - still they have some good youngsters coming through who should get a chance now

united on the other hand looked like a very average side but if they continue to get points, luck and decisions they'll hang in there, however i think both man city and chelsea have a better squad of players and that usually tells in the end
