Maybe I'm mistaken but did United fans start the chant "Stand up for the 96" at one stage during the game?

Seemed like a large portion of the crowd started applauding apart from the majority of the Kop.

None of you were at the game.

Right so I my aswell put my 2 cents in

    Deserved red card for Shelvey
Liverpool were the overall better side but that doesn't get you points
RVP challenge was not in the same bracket as Shelveys and didn't deserve a red
    Nani was again fúcking shíte
    Rafeal, "take a bow son"
    Fergie is the ultimate troll
    Giggs is not a CM
Most Liverpool fans who post in this thread must be high off thier asses on peyote

Just on the fans chanting after the game.
My cousin was at it, said there was Liverpool fans, very small amount stayed behind and where trying to wind up United support.
No clue what Liverpool fans said or did.

A minority of supporters to the rite started to chant the songs. Was bit of trouble in the United section over it too.

Hardly surprisng to see which United fans are desperately trying to defend this.

Coming up with excuses as to why they did it is a way of defending the chants.

You're some tulip. Absolute rubbish you come out with is incredible.

    Watching RTE, everyone in agreement.

Both men to blame for the tackle.

Valencia went down with practically nothing.

    STOP GOING ON ABOUT CHANTING!
    BOTH FANS HAVE IDIOT ELEMENTS.
    WHO WAS WORSE?
WHO CARES, JUST GIVE IT A REST.

And they're right. Shelvey and Evans should either have both been sent off, or booked. Booked would have been the right call for me. Valencia dived and conned a weak referee, no question at all.

Both clubs should be identifying those fans and banning them.

No mention of the constant booing of Patrice Evra who was a victim of racial abuse from a Liverpool player? Surprising that.

Sure it's fine for a club to single out a player after he was racially abused by a player of that club isn't it?

Both clubs should be identifying those fans and banning them.

That would result in United banning close to 3,000 of their support.

    Opr

Are you honestly surprised? English football fans will never stop singing sick chants at other fans, they're mainly birdbrains.

If you are genuinely surprised then today must be your first day watching football

    From the BBC:
The occasion was marred slightly after the final whistle when a couple of home supporters ran across from the main stand to the visiting contingent - held behind on police orders - and started making aeroplane signals in a clear reference to the Munich air disaster in 1958 when eight United players were among 21 people who lost their lives.

The provocation was met with chants of "Always the victims" and "Murderers" from the travelling fans

I can see Liverpool banning "a couple" of fans that made that gesture, if they were caught in the act by stewards/cameras. I can't see United banning the majority of the crowd that were chanting in the video going around.

    Still talking about chanting
I liked this thread better when Shelvey shouldn't have been sent off or when RvP should or when Valencia dived etc etc etc.

Thats a LONG time ago now at this stage. :(

Shelvey was unlucky as Evans could have gone as well,
Suarez penalty incident was not clear,
If Shelveys tackle was red, rvp's should have been as well
Valencia took a dive, no contact
As for chanting after the game, so what, seriously, when it mattered the fans behaved, if two (yes 2) liverpool fans wound up a few hundred uts supporters and they reacted, so what. Sky were waiting for it to happen, usually they are waiting for our supporters or Luis Suarez to do something, they are scum.
We should have won, if Shelvey had stayed on we would have done, Suso did well as did Kelly and Raheem, we still need an out and out striker, but we are trying to play the right way and even allowing for our position in the table, I think the team will start winning games and shoot up the table

Shelvey left the ground=red card, that's just the way referees see it. Players are told not to do it and he still did, he can have no complaints imo.

United were terrible, don't know how that game resulted in a win, Liverpool really need a finishing touch in the final third. Fergie clearly doesn't understand modern tactics and it's becoming more and more apparent by the week, he really needs to buck up his ideas.

Yes sometimes he makes strange decisions but to say he doesn't have a clue about modern tactics is crazy tbf

Fergie has never been a top level tactician and at this stage seems to be just throwing top players on the pitch hoping they'll win it for him. Not much tactical organisation and a system depending on players producing moments of magic which doesn't always happen and having nothing except Paul Scholes to fall back on. Unlike Jose and Pep who will make tactical changes when they see something not working.

    Ok

Leagues and Cups were all won with moments of magic and no orgainisation or system. Cool story bro.

Fergie is a fantastic bigger picture tactician. He can get outfoxed in the odd game here and there but he has very clear views on how he wants to set up his team and the tactical philosophy he wants them to follow.

That's funny. Instead of getting himself in the box when they were a goal down, Suarez actually ran backwards away from the box to argue with the ref about the fair Van Persie tackle instead. He's an awful eejit.

Whatever about the chanting, the abusive tweets being directed at Mark Halsey tonight are absolutely sickening.

Wow Hansen gives the ref 10/10.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,306 ✭✭✭✭Drumpot

Lawrenson and ljunjberg on bbc think the ref got the big decisions spot on.

Was surprised at lawro! Very impartial of him!

Was refreshing from the anti united agenda on rte. particularly enjoyed Cunningham singling out rio for trying to get shelvey sent off and ignoring Suarez efforts to get Rvp sent off! Oh and liked the way they brought up specific mention of united fans acting the **** when we know there were stupid incidents from a minority of idiots on both sides!
