    So we are back to having 1 sh1te striker instead of 2 sh1te ones.
    Should have bought at least 2 strikers last summer and in the Jan transfer market

    No loss, in fact I'd actually say this is a good thing. Ade will get more game time and I believe out of Defoe and Ade that Ade has the potential to contribute more. Mind you, slightly more than just the bare minimum is all we can expect.

    Defoe hasn't scored in the league since the start of this year, Ade has a whopping 2 league goals to his name and I'd say that his embarrassment of this statistic is the real reason behind his dip in form, not the fact that he's rubbish or low on confidence. I'd be embarrassed if I was him!

    If we manage 4th or higher, we may well have done so with our strike partnership scoring 1 league goal between them since Jan 1st, as that's what Ade and Defoe have managed to date. Absolutely pitiful, and if ever there was a reason for both of them to go it's this.

    Coulthirst should be on the bench against Basel. Great opportunity & experience for him to show the manager what he can do. Give him a run out if we're two goals to the good with 25mins to play.

    AH Europa League Quarter Final, nice idead but dont think its the game to blood new boys, i dont think we will be 2 up with 25 to go, it we win by 2 clear goals that would be a fantastic result

    Defoe out is definitely not a good thing.

    I was kinda banking on one of our strikers coming good soon, now we only have one.

    Maybe Dempsey will find his shooting boots. Then again he has been shooting all season. Maybe he'll find his scoring boots.

    maybe he will just figure out how his feet work again, if we are relying on clint dempsey to shoot us to champions league, then I for one am nervous

    Wouldn't surprise me to see Ade on the bench.

    I guess Dempsey needs some game time so you could be right. He also needs to find his scoring boots though so I wonder if it would be better to start him in the hope he gets a goal or two. Hopefully Lennon has a good and injury-free game - we really need each player to come through this game without any injuries. At least there'll be no extra time after this match!

    I can see Caulker and Dawson starting on Saturday. AVB will expect Gallas to be fit to shepherd whatever Basel have to throw at us imo!

    Without jinxing the thing, AVB has taken us this far by respecting the tournament, opposition and by placing an expectation on the players who come in to do a job.
